Not-Godendag 2024

Post by viking123 »

I am happy to announce that details of the FOG R competition Not Godendag are now been published on the Battlefield Hobbies website.
Not-Godendag 2024
Date:- 20th and 21st January 2024
Venue: Battlefields Hobbies, South March, Daventry, Northants, NN11 4PH
Telephone: - 01327 702001
Competition Format : -
1. Games will be 3 hours 20 mins long (plus a 1-10 min(s) variable calculated by the Umpire.

2. 850 points plus the value of their cheapest base cost i.e. if the cheapest points for a base are 5 points then the player can have up to 855 points in their army.

3. Amended rules and points as per the BHGS website.

Theme: - Italian Wars - Early 16th century Europe, Date 1494-1555

Armies Allowed: - Maximillian Imperial, Italian Wars French, Trastamara Spanish, Italian States (one of the following Milan, Florence, Papal, Naples, Genoa, Pisa, Savoy) , Italian Wars Venetian, German States (3 armies), Early Henrician English, Later Henrician English, Scottish, Border Reivers, Irish, Anglo Irish, Caroline Imperialists (Not in Africa)

Competition Rules: -
1. Any heavy artillery used must be the first battlegroup(s) deployed, followed immediately by any medium artillery used.

2. There must be at least 12 bases of heavy infantry in the army

3. No musket armed battle troops of any type.

4. No Swiss troops. If an army list allows Swiss troop either as part of the list or as an ally, then a player will be allowed instead to take equivalent non-Swiss troops e.g. Landsknecht rather than Swiss Kiel.

5. The competition will be seeded in that the lowest ranked player (according to the BHGS rankings) will have first choice of what army to use and once that army has been selected it cannot be chosen by another player. If a player does not have a ranking then club colleagues will advise on the capability of that player. Choice of army will be made after all entries are received.

Lists: - Updated lists for the armies taken into account new points and amendments are available as a word document from Ben Jones (ben@benedictjones.plus.com ). Ben will also be the list checker and should receive at least 2 weeks before the competition.
Time Table and other Information
It is possible to leave figures and terrain at Battlefield Hobbies but obviously this is done at the owners risk. Free and plentiful parking is also outside Battlefield Hobbies.

Time Table for Games –
Registration time on Saturday 9:00am to 9:20am
Games will be:
Saturday: 1st Game 9.30 - 1.00 and 2nd Game 2.00 - 5.30
Sunday: 1st Game 9.00 - 12.30 and 2nd Game 1.30 - 5.00
Umpire
When time is called, play will continue until the end of the current phase regardless of which player’s turn it is. Each player is responsible for completing their own score card. Once completed hand the score card to Bob Medcraft who will be organising the next round draw
Other Information: -
Players must supply their own terrain pieces. These must be to an acceptable standard, and the umpire will have the discretion to remove unsightly items.

Players must be present and ready to start the match at the appointed time. Where a player has a reasonable excuse for arriving late the match start will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. After which time the effected player will be awarded maximum points.
If a player resigns from a game at any stage after the first set up dice have been rolled their opponents will be awarded maximum points, and they will be awarded 0 points.
In the event of a bye for whatever reason the player getting the bye will receive the average of all the winning scores for that round.
Lunch will not be available so all players must make their own arrangements.

Tickets are open and I have purchased mine. Looking forward to a good turnout.

I am sorry for the delay in updating everyone on the FOG R competition at Daventry in replacement for Godendag.
Part of the reason for the delay was the absence of an up to date list of rankings. This has now been sorted, see below.

Rank Name Club
1 Keith Spedding (Burton)
2 Ray Boyles (Burton)
3 Dene Green (Burton)
4 Paddy Bray (Oxford)
5 Andy Kitcher (Ilford)
6 David Burrows (Oxford)
7 Bob Medcraft (Oxford)
8 Chris Beesley (Central London)
9 Simon Green (Burton)
10 Clive Holland (Derby)
11 Tom Elsworth (Oxford)
12 David Elks (Derby)
13 David Fairhurst (Oxford)
14 Jerry Bray (Oxford)
15 Ian Wilson (Burton)
16 Peter Card (Oxford)
17 Nigel Phillips (Derby)
17 Neil Siddon-Smith (Mercenary)
19 Steve Holt (Burton)
19 Chris Talbot (Burton)
21 Quinton Dalton (Mansfield )
22 Ben Jones (Oxford)
23 Keith McGlynn (Berkeley)
24 Lynda Fairhurst (Oxford)
25 Trevor Allen (Mansfield)

In the competition for 2024 players with the lowest ranking will have first choice of an army list. Thus Keith Spedding will have the last choice.
It is hoped that this will even up the competition with everyone having a good chance of winning.
If any one does not have the figures for the particular army they want to use then let me know and I am certain that between all the players we can find the necessary figures.
Details of the competition can be found on the Battlefield Hobbies website - https://www.battlefieldhobbies.co.uk/our-events/
You will need to use the “jump months” key to get to January 2024 then scroll down to the Not-Godendag enter.
Once you have entered let me know.

Hi Bob

As mentioned on the email circulation, unfortunately I will have to miss Not Godendag in 2024. My next tourney entry will be for BadCon 2024 where I shall once again sally forth with the venerable (patient and accomodating) Mr Chris Beesley in the FOG-R doubles. In the meantime, and in expectation of not seeing many if any of you in December, I send felicitations for the Christmas Season - may Santa bring you all you wish for!

I have been asked to clarify how we will sort out army selection given that we are using the current FOG R Rankings to decide who choses first to last.
Currently I have 5 confirmed entrants: -
Dene Green
Simon Green
David Elks
Keith Spedding
Bob Medcraft
A number of people have said that they are going to enter.
To make this work people need to have entered by 20th December. I will then let everyone know the order in which they can choose their army from the list below: -
Armies Allowed: - Maximillian Imperial, Italian Wars French, Trastamara Spanish, Italian States (one of the following Milan, Florence, Papal, Naples, Genoa, Pisa, Savoy) , Italian Wars Venetian, German States (3 armies), Early Henrician English, Later Henrician English, Scottish, Border Reivers, Irish, Anglo Irish, Caroline Imperialists (Not in Africa)
While Swiss are not allowed as a separate army they are allowed if part of the main list or as a listed ally.
If everyone acts quickly we should be able to sort who has what list by New Year. That should give everyone a chance to get their list to Ben a week later. Any player not on the ranking list will have first choice.
I think that it is clear this has proved difficult. In the future I am proposing to use the system used by the FOG AM players in that there will be a point’s difference between players depending on Ranking e.g. top 5 players 750 points, next 5 players 800 points and all the other players 850 points.

We currently have 10 players booked or in the process of booking.
The Bray brothers - Jerry and Paddy are unable to come. Also Trevor is not playing.
Three have selected their army they are going to use at the competition.

The 10 players with their ranking next to their names are: -

Ray Boyles – 2nd
Dene Green – 3rd
Andy Kitchen – 5th
Bob Medcraft – 7th
Chris Beesley – 8th
Simon Green – 9th
David Elks – 12th - Border Reivers
Ben Jones – 22nd – Milan with Swiss ally

On the basis that the bottom three have selected their army can Simon now let me know what army he is going to use.

If any other player wants to take part let me know as soon as possible.
