RBS vs RTS

I see a lot of round based strategy games being developed thes days including tactic RPGs (like Wasteland 2 or Divinity: OS) which have tactical combat. It seems people are coming back to play these kind of game but I admit, I miss teh classic real time strategy games back from the 90s era. In addit...

Re: wargamers to real war

Classically the wargame is an invention from the prussion king backt to about 1812. He built a table and put miniatures of soldiers, cannons and towns on it to replay wars. Later on they used this to simulate wars as known until the 2nd WW, where Hitler had his own warroom. So yes, I assume a bit mo...

Re: Frontline: The Longest Day is out now!

To be honest, I don´t see the need to buy this.
Just another WW2 game in the look of Panzer Corps.
Why not make an WWI or Korea or Voetnam scenario instead ? Would be more appealing to me at least....

SSI - Slitherine in the footsteps

I´m one of the older wargamer so I played alot of SSI titles back in the 80s and 90s. To be honest, it´s still my favourite developer and publisher of computer games. I´m a collector and have almost all titles from them in the original boxes and complete (imagine my room full of cupboards with games...

Re: Any teens here?

I play wargames nowfor over 30 years and began as child with boardgames (Stratego, Risk, Chess, WH40k) and my first computer wargames were all from SSI and SSG - great games. Just pixels and alot of imagination needed to have fun with them ;-)

No, I read somewhere that they don´t plan new content like an additional campaign with carry over units- unfortunately.....
Skirmish maps though would be cool. And announced for this week.....

Re: Good game.

defend the castle is a very hard battle, once done most except the last one for each side will seem a bit tame  I had it the scenario before, with the 5 "Artillery" units. Was a hard fight till the end. The three enemy archers wrecked havoc upon my safe-thought-units in the town.......

Things I like - dislike

So, it´s time for a small summary after playing till chapter 7 of the 1st campaign. Pro: the game just makes fun, that´s the most important part and invites always to another gaming session. The interface and controls are intuitive and easy to perform. No complicate rules, easy to understand. The gr...

Ahahaha, cmon, this is a serious board. No fanboyism please. Hell is a nice wargame, no question, and I like it alot, but a Civ is still a Civ and in my opinion the best round-based-computerame series! Fun and deep gameplay, nice graphics and endless replayability!

Re: Good game.

The graphic is one of the best i saw for years. Honestly, it´s ok if you are enthuastic for the game, but best graphic you saw in years ?? Where you´ve been ? On the moon ? There are some strategic games, which looks really awesome like Endless Legends, but this one is average for the year 2014 ! S...

Re: Tips for beginners?

For the first mission (where you have no archer), I split my group about half to go south and west, while 2 units moved to the houses. This way you force the enemy to split up too and not to come out of the forest to flank your units, which won´t have enough space to fight effectively at the farm. I...

Really nice wargame

So I stumbled about "Hell" on the Slitherine HP while informing about WH40k, which I intended to buy. Instead I now bought this nice fantasy wargame which I never heard of before (lack of advertising?) and must say, it´s exactly to my taste. Besides some flaws in the unit controlling (cast...

Re: Tutorial - first thoughts

Hi, bought this wonderful wargame at the weekend and played the tutorial and first missions. To your problem(s): normally, the game shows you an arrow where to move your units and you can turn the camera, if you can´t recognize exactly the spot. It should be no problem to move the cavalry there and ...
