Re: Updates - where we are at

Looks like Briton might be the first proper trial of the v 1.1 rules as the FoGR comp at the Challenge has been canned.

Re: Why are we ruining my favourite set of rules

I welcome some changes to FoGR, there are a few things in it that I disagree with and like most wargamers, if the rules don't change, after a while you get bored. Like many of the players, I've now racked up hundreds of games of FoGR over the last six years and after Britcon last year realised I'm b...

Re: Why are we ruining my favourite set of rules

I do agree with Don's comments about part of the death of FoGR is due to the books not being available. You can't buy a copy of the rules or the lists at your friendly local gaming store, Amazon or most other places. So, if you were to get into renaissance, you would struggle to get into FoGR. I saw...

Re: Britcon 2017 - 11-13 August

So,

whose in for FoGR at Britcon?

looks like it may be the last year of FoGR, seeing the way the the last few comps have gone.

Re: Elephants

maybe allowing them to deploy out to the flanks would be go. I looked to take elephants to Warfare this year and when I had a good look at the rules I saw that elephants had to deploy with the foot. So, knowing that I would be going into a musket/artillery fest, my elephants stayed at home. they are...

Re: Bows

One thing for me that has always annoyed me with bow armies is that they get short range at 4" vs the 3" that musket do. That extra one to two turns of being in effective range can really rip a P&S unit to pieces. Yes, a musket unit will cause casualties, but when when you are getting 7 to 9 dice hi...

Re: Mounted Points

I disagree. I think evading is pretty powerful, its just that for most FoGR players, we tend to play armies that want to fight, rather than spending two hours maneuvering. We all know dragoons evading makes the little buggers almost impossible to kill off if you don't just blow them away in shooting...

Re: Duty and Glory

Just a note on this, if we made the duty and glory armies have a minimum of mounted, we would have to look at some of the Wars of Religion armies as well so that they don't then become the default choice.

Only real worry then is that all the armies start becoming "same same"
