Re: Charging broken units

I think the game mechanic is good now cause it was a common problem in Medieval times for both infantry & knights to impetuously charge routed units like, for example, the Saxons leaving their life-giving shield line to charge Normans in the battle of Hastings. Another infamous example was the Teuto...

Re: Rise of Persia will be out on September 27th!

Looking forward to this.
I want to shade the battlefield with clouds of arrows.
Thank you for making the 4 historical campaigns. Those are my favorite part of this game.

Re: Field of Glory II Rise of Persia New DLC is coming! Dont miss the Twitch Preview!

Ya which is historical I think cause Alexander's army was particularly designed to defeat the Persians. I didn't mind losing the Gaugamela battle. I went into the battle actually expecting to lose cause I know what those hoplites and sarissa spears do when they finally catch the archers. I like the ...

it is beautiful
If you couple those nice graphics with campaigns as good as the original, it will be awesome.

Re: Sandbox Campaign suggestions

Oh ya that's right. I remember being able to continue after losing a main battle in my previous campaign. It's okay not adjusting it to continue after a failed pursuit. I have never won a pursue battle cause I am always too outnumbered in those. The campaign is quite good now in its latest evolved s...

Thank you rbodleyscott.
Those Sparabara archers really chewed up the Egyptian army in the sample video from Richard so they seem pretty good. I got crushed in the Gaugamela battle though when I was using them.

Re: Richard Yorke plays Rise of Persia!

That was a hard fight. After trudging through the dreadful arrow storm, I thought the Egyptians would win in melee but the Persians were tough at melee too.
I like the big chariot.
Is Richard a New Zealander?

Re: Field of Glory II Rise of Persia New DLC is coming! Dont miss the Twitch Preview!

The pictures look good. Thank you for making more expansions I like the shields and their garb is cool too. Will Persia have more infantry now? In the previous DLC they use mostly cavalry and archers so they were overrun in melee (which is actually quite historical to be honest) but they did have a ...

Re: Sandbox Campaign suggestions

The rearguard battles I was offered were after I won field battles against the enemy, but I haven't had that after I lost a battle. I only lost one battle in this campaign and it was a pursue the enemy survivors with a small force type battle so I only had a about 6 ranged units and 2 infantry units...

Re: Sandbox Campaign suggestions

I think it would be nice to have a way of losing a battle in a campaign and yet still continue without a rematch of the lost battle. Like in Total War games, losing a battle is part of the journey to victory or defeat. Maybe there could be a rearguard battle after on defense whilst the player's army...

Re: Sandbox Campaign suggestions

sorry ya just ignore my rubbish. I get to use my core in slightly over half the battles. In rear guard actions I always choose the irregular force instead of my core cause my army is always reduced to tatters in every battle so it would be foolish to use it without a refit. It is not healthy for zeal...

Re: Sandbox Campaign suggestions

It was hard to fight the Arabs cause I was only given 1 archer unit and a bunch of irregulars and a half dozen zealots in the back line. They had a lot of archers and irregulars so my units got shot up a fair bit on the approach. The next battle has quite a nice campaign choice and I think it means ...

Wow that really takes campaigns to a new level.
Imagine how wonderful that map campaign would be ingame and have long koei style map domination campaigns. Glorious.

Re: Sandbox Campaign suggestions

I get mostly new irregular units cause most battles are a choice between a rearguard with irregulars or an unhealed remnant of my core army so I tend to choose the rearguard cause my core gets badly beat up every time and needs to refit before fighting again so it's cause of my campaign choices. Eac...

Re: Sandbox Campaign suggestions

I my sandbox campaign now.... which is very good.... I'm getting a very wide diversity of enemy armies to fight caused by truces with the Romans while other eastern type nations attack and now an Arab army allied with the evil Romans. The game is fun but I don't feel that I have a core army in this ...

Re: Graphics

Cartoon style graphics are my favorite like in games 'Mark of the Ninja' and Civ 6 (although I never play civ 6 but love how it looks). Too many games are trying to look realistic so they don't look interesting. I don't think Empires Apart looks so cartoonish but more of a unique simple style which ...

Jewish revolt versus Roman army sandbox campaign

I'm well into a Jews versus Romans during the revolt sandbox campaign with the full 15 battle length (the longer the better in my case). It's quite a good match up. The Jews don't have cavalry which is bad but they make up for it with potent IDF firepower (ie a lot of archers & slingers.... no Merk...

Re: Beating Romans with Huns

I was not clear about “command evades”. It would be the player could set an evasion stance for a leader( and all the units under his command) to be always, never or “default “ evade. (With some % of defiance per unit if bad odds) Lights wouldn’t be allowed this. Fog1 allowed for individual unit set...

Here is a cataphract picture so people can see one up close. Sometimes the horse's armor includes a metal grid over the animal's eyes for more protection.
