Type: News

Afghanistan '11 aims at portraying the struggles and hardships that the American command had to face in Afghanistan. From logistics and infrastructure to the political aspects of the war, from intelligence and recon to combat operations, all sides of the conflict have been represented.

it is an innovative concept and it's a wargame like no other.

But what do reviewers, journalists and youtubers say about the game? Here's some reviews which we feel best represent the game.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun claims the game has "the irresistible momentum of Civ and the colourful intricacy of Tropico", and they liked it so much that they gave it their special "RPS Recommended" rosette.

Gameskinny liked the game a lot, giving it a score of 8 out of 10. The author of the article experienced the conflict in Afghanistan in person and was quite impressed by the game's realistic representation of the war and its tactical depth.

A specialized site like Wargamer was very happy with it, calling it "surprisingly deep and satisfying" . In case you are a German speaker, don't miss this review from IGN which gave the game a brilliant score of 8.7 out of 10.

Several Youtubers tried the game and gave us their opinion, too. Drew Durnil started a long series of Let's play videos and he's loving it! TheHistoricalGamer and Stealth17 Gaming are also running their own Let's plays and like the game very much.

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

The AI for Field of Glory II has been developed by building on the knowledge gained from developing the generally praised AI for Pike and Shot and Sengoku Jidai.

Deployment
For non-preset scenarios, it is important that the AI can deploy its army in a sensible formation, taking account of the prevailing terrain.
Generally speaking, most ancient armies would deploy with an infantry centre in one or more lines. (Usually three for Romans, usually only one for Hellenistic armies). They would then have cavalry on both wings and perhaps in reserve, plus light troops both in the centre and on the wings.
