12th August 2008 - Field of Glory Prize Winners!
First, thanks to the tens of thousands of players of our "Win the Field of Glory Instant Win Game'! Despite being hacked part way through, we persevered and pushed through to the end to make sure all prizes were awarded! All of those who won prizes from Osprey Publishing, Slitherine Software, and Wargames Factory will be contacted and prizes will start going out in the next two weeks.
But first we wanted to announce the Grand Prize winner of "Miniatures for Life" - one of every box set that Wargames Factory produces for the next five years!
The winner was diligent in his quest to win this grand prize - playing nearly every day of the contest - and it paid off! He also may be well known to many of you in the wargames hobby under his handle "Gisby".
Congratulations to Tim Peterson of Manitoba, Canada! View / Add Comments

FIELD OF GLORY TO BE TRANSLATED INTO FOUR LANGUAGES
French, German, Italian and Spanish versions arrive in February 2009
Slitherine and Osprey Publishing are delighted to announce that due to popular demand Field of Glory the wargame rules that have taken the wargaming world by storm will soon be available in four new languages: French, Germany, Italian and Spanish.

‘The European market has always been very important to us and we are very pleased to be able to bring Field of Glory to a new set of customers who may have been excluded by the language barrier before. 30th July 2008 - Slitherine Publishing Announced!
SLITHERINE STEPS INTO THE FUTURE, WITH A LOOK AT THE PAST
UK based developer steps into publishing with ambitious development plans
Award winning strategy games developer Slitherine has announced it will start self publishing its own titles starting January 2009. The new publishing house has already started a strategic development plan to approach the retail market with a fully developed release schedule starting Q1 next year.
The newly formed entity will still remain faithful to its original mission and approach to games, by developing, and now publishing, highly playable and approachable history-themed games to the mass market.
"We have always been committed in bringing games that are both playable and enjoyable to the market and to allow all kind of player, from the strategy enthusiast to the curious newcomer, to have an entertaining experience", said Iain McNeil, Development and Production Director at Slitherine. "By moving directly into publishing we will be in full control of the content of our products and can leverage on the experience we've accumulated over these long years of development and production".
Slitherine has simultaneously announced it has raised an initial 5million Euros funding to carry these plans to fulfillment over the next 3 years.
"Our funding package ensures that we can approach the market in the best possible way to achieve success. We know this is a quality and marketing driven business and this will allow us to be proactive and to invest our money where it will make a difference", said JD McNeil Business Development Director of the company. "Being able to invest our resources in the most efficient way is nothing new to Slitherine, but now we have the funding to invest in future development, marketing and communication for our new and exciting product line up. We aim to make this a success from the very beginning".
Slitherine will remain in the field of history-themed games as it always has done, but bringing the same enjoyment to the console market.
"We had a mission as a developer and we will stick to this as a publisher", said Marco Minoli, Marketing Director. "History is fun. There are many products in the entertainment market that already prove this case and we intend to make sure we become established as a major player in this field. We now have in place the right elements to be successful; we know how to develop compelling products, we have the historical knowledge to do this and now we also have some great licenses and amazing content to make sure our games are even more appealing to audiences of all ages".
Slitherine will shortly announce more details on the release schedule and the list of new titles. View / Add Comments
24th July 2008 - Official Field of Glory terrain!
SLITHERINE PARTNERS WITH MINIATURE WORLDMAKER
TO BRING FIELD OF GLORY BATTLEFIELDS TO LIFE
Field of Glory™, the new ancient and medieval wargaming rules from Slitherine Strategies, published by
Osprey will now be supported by a full range of official terrain to enhance your table top battlefields.
Miniature World Maker is cooperating with Slitherine to launch an extensive new range of terrain pieces
specifically designed for the Field of Glory™
Miniature World Maker CEO Jim Mason said: “Miniature World Maker is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Slitherine to create an exciting new range of terrain designed specifically for Field of Glory™ rules. Manufactured from the same high quality materials we now use, and finished to the same exacting standards, the range will include terrain for 15mm–28mm scales and for universal layouts. Landscape features will range from hills to plantations, woodland to villages, and soft sand to developed lands.”
Field of Glory™ rules have taken the wargame market by storm, both here in Australia and around the globe. They are easy to use, and give an authentic, accurate result. Complemented by our diverse range of realistic, durable and affordable terrain, they will add a whole new dimension to wargaming.
JD McNeil, Director of Slitherine, said: “When we first saw the samples from Miniature World Maker we were really excited. It has always been disappointing to see beautifully painted miniatures battling across dull and uninteresting terrain, but now with the help of Miniature World Maker we can change all that. The games I have seen using their terrain are as good as many display games. It is extremely light and durable, so ideal for those who have to cart their armies around. We are extremely pleased to be working with them on this project”
What is Field of Glory™?
Field of Glory™ is a wargaming rules system that uses model figures and terrain to recreate the great battles of the ancient and medieval world, written by some of the biggest names in the wargaming community, including the co-author of the popular DBM rules, Richard Bodley Scott. Field of Glory™ allows players to use Wargames Factory miniatures to re-fight historical scenarios or create their own “what if” battles. It is being released in February 2008 along with two companion books, Rise of Rome and Storm of Arrows. These books, which are the first of many, focus on specific time periods or geographical regions in the ancient and medieval world, giving historical overviews and comprehensive army lists for all of the major and minor powers.
Field of Glory™ is the first set of wargames rules that has been designed for and made available to a wide audience and will be available from traditional Hobby outlets to mass market booksellers. The game is set to revolutionize historical wargaming.

Varese, 24th of April 2008 - Black Bean, a leading European publisher of video games, is pleased to announce the release of Slitherine’s HISTORY™ Great Empires: Rome, on the Nintendo DS™ format. The video game will be released in Summer 2008.
HISTORY™ Great Empires: Rome follows the successful release of Slitherine’s THE HISTORY CHANNEL ® Great Battles of Rome videogame, published on PC, PlayStation®2 and PSP® which launched in May 2007 and achieved significant chart success at launch, including top 5 and top 10 positions throughout Europe. The game continues to sell well to a mass market audience.
