So the player who set the game up or mine ?
Neither of us have had the problem before.

Re: Black Patches in terrain map
Yours.
Have you changed anything in your system lately or updated your graphics drivers?Neither of us have had the problem before.
It looks suspiciously like an issue with rendering alphas correctly. In which case maybe a new driver does not like the particular DXT format that the overlay textures are saved in.
------------------------
Try playing your turn and then ask your opponent if he is seeing the same issue.
If so, maybe it is just some corruption in the game instance. You could try starting again.
If not, it is probably your graphics card/drivers causing the issue.
I will ask Pip if he has any additional ideas.

Re: Black Patches in terrain map
Did some game setups, ran through all of the skirmish menu.
Age of Machievalli, Tercio to Salvo, Italian Wars & Extra nations V2 all had the black, the others did not.
Here is my PC specs. I do not have a graphics card.
Nothing new has been installed, a win updated arrived today but the problem was already on board.
I have done a CCleaner Pro, made no difference.
Have added some more Hard Drive info.

Which is odd, as they all use the same graphics.KiwiWarlord wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 8:07 pm Did some game setups, ran through all of the skirmish menu.

I have asked Pip to comment (after the weekend)

You do indeed have a graphics card, even if it is integrated into your motherboard or chipset. Right click the desktop and choose Display Settings, then Advanced Display Settings, then Display adapter properties... this should tell you what kind of video hardware you are playing on.

Re: Black Patches in terrain map
Assuming you have not seen this issue before it is almost certainly due to a driver update (it looks like Intel pushed a new driver update on the 18th of August, so it could have been pushed to Windows, though I am not sure of that). I will see if there is any way to duplicate it here, though we are not planning to update the P&S EXE in the short term. You could try looking to see if changing any settings in the Intel Graphics control panel fixes it (specifically try disabling any texture quality/performance settings).

Re: Black Patches in terrain map
Would downloading and installing V1.4.0 (giving me my current installed version and another separate version ) be worth trying ?
I do not know how to play around with the graphics.
Thanks

Re: Black Patches in terrain map
You should already be using v1.4.0, so probably not. And it would overwrite the previous installation anyway.KiwiWarlord wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 9:20 am Would downloading and installing V1.4.0 (giving me my current installed version and another separate version ) be worth trying ?

Yes I am using v1.4.0. I was just wondering if a fresh install would help. You should already be using v1.4.0, so probably not. And it would overwrite the previous installation anyway.
My idea was to install the new download separately so as I could test the graphics thinking that maybe my game has been corrupted somehow and the fresh, separate V1.4.0 would show this.
Might have to take my PC in for a health check do you think RBS ?
Thanks

You could try it, but it is unlikely to work.KiwiWarlord wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 10:38 pmYes I am using v1.4.0. I was just wondering if a fresh install would help. You should already be using v1.4.0, so probably not. And it would overwrite the previous installation anyway.

As we have said, the most likely cause is a recently updated graphic driver. You could try rolling back your graphic driver to a previous version.
