AAR: Rico's 'Stalino' scenario

Post by PoorOldSpike »

SPOILER ALERT- My two columns of Italians attack into the Russian city of Stalino down the blue arrows and are stopped in their tracks after just 5 turns out of 17, (there are white flags everywhere) so I surrendered and went off to sulk and pout.
My excuse is that I'm a tank nut and I'm no good at these poncey all-infantry games, haha..

I did use engineer smoke, you can see it in the screenshot but it didn't help much.
Also his mortar kept bombarding me and my boys never had a chance.

The smoke is also used to protect units in buildings and under bombing.
Avoid roads as much as possible.
Take your time.
Move carefully.
Fight in a group.
You have 18 units fighting against about 18 others.
You have about 900 points that fight against 900 other points.
You benefit from three bonuses.
The enemy has no mortar but a 76mm less lethal.
You have no valid reason to lose ...

I had no machinegun, no mortar, no tanks!
Tanks were invented to make war more fun, I must have my tanks, they're my favourite toys!

In this case, I strongly advise you not to play my next Italian scenarios ...

Incidentally, I'm not saying I want lots of tanks.
I like small scenarios with only a few tanks and a few infantry and MG's and mortars etc on small maps..:)
