Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Yep, maybe the grey texture is slightly blue-ish and the St Andrew Cross (the black cross in the rudder) is not as clear as it should be (it's clearer in the He 51) but i have to confess i'm pretty satisfied with my Bf 109 B

Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Really nice textures !!!
Its possible to use them also as new skins for the planes and use also the old ones ? Maybee in an special sub folder in the texture folder ?
Than I like to work also on some german "Legion Condor" textures - my grandfather were there. But I dont find any plane textures in the game data folders. Where do you get that ?

As far as I know (i'm a complete noob), you have two options to generate new units with new graphical appearences for your mod:
1) You can replace one pre-existing unit from the vanilla game. In that case, you rename the unit (in the english_mod.txt file) and create a tga file with the new texture for the Units/Textures folfer. The new unit will reuse the 3d model of the original unit but "painted" with the new texture. Keep in mind that in this case, you are losing the original unit for your mod. For example, for the nationalist He 51 i used the chinese gloster gladiator unit as a base, and I won't be able to use that particular gloster for my mod (not a big lose in this case, since i don't forsee chinese planes over Spain in the mod ).
2) Or, if you have a 3d model for the unit you want to create, you will have to put the file the Units folder in a version the program can understand, and also a texture file as indicated above. In this case you don't overwrite any vanilla unit (losing it in the process) but the tricky part it's to find the 3d file/convert it . For the bf109, anyway, you are quite lucky since in the Battle of Britain Mod the devs left us the file (that's the one i used).
So basically that's it. I have no idea about the use of subfolders, so maybe you can illuminate me about that particular point
Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
I dont known anything about that - but would be nice to use both units - the original and your mod textured unit. Perhaps the developers can help here with this question ? It should be possible I think. So basically that's it. I have no idea about the use of subfolders, so maybe you can illuminate me about that particular point
Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
The developers do not answer ?
Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
I don't know how much time have you been in the forum, JB, but the devs don't usually answer modding questions directly, i'm afraid
And now, something completely different.

Like in a real war, while creating a mod, sometimes you win, and others you lose; and today i didn't win So came with me to know my sad story.
I spent my "modding hours" yesterday trying to fix the uniform of my infantry units. The variety of colours in uniforms in the Spanish Civ War is astonishing in both sides considering the evolution during the war, the presence of a lot of irregular militiamen and because of the several factions inside each side.
https://historiayguerra.net/2015/05/15/ ... -nacional/
https://historiayguerra.net/2015/05/15/ ... publicano/
At the end of the day I choose to pick a single colour for each side, imitating what OoB does with the big players (black to the germans, grey to the italians, green to the yankees, brown to the soviets...). Although not very realistic, it's a simple and smart solution that i like. It also respects my general idea that TSP should be as near as a vanilla DLC as possible.
So i decided to use clear green for the nationalists and brown for the republicans. Let's talk about the first ones.
Among the vanilla units, the dutch infantry has a similar appearance. It is also a good candidate as I don't mind losing the vanilla unit for my mod since i dont think a dutch intervention is very likely in the mod But I tried to change a couple of things. The first one is the hat, that i dislike. The second is the green itself, that i would prefer to be a bit more vivid.
But after playing with the texture during i couple of hours, i have to admit i only could modify the color of the hat (to an almost phosporescent state that, while impressive, it's not the effect i was looking for), while the uniform itself remained unchanged (no idea why). I had no more luck trying to modify the hat. So for the moment i think that the vanilla dutch uniform should be enough :/

Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
If you wanted some variety in the Dutch unit model, you could replace one of the Dutch infantry models with a Gurkha model. I can elaborate on how do so, but it is pretty simple.

Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream...
Work in progress campaign tree:
In a couple of months probably i will upload a 0.5 version, half-sih campaign, with the first 8-9 scenarios
Also, thanks, Zekedia, but i think i already fixed the dutch... although i am not very sure how Anyway the unit roosters, although not perfect, are already working
EDIT: Also ¿anyone is having problems reskining vehicles with the last OoB version?

Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Nice, nice, nice. I'll be looking forward to this.
Not really, but you're aware that only a fraction of the included models can be reskinned, right? Most units out of the German roster, but only a very few US, Jap and Brit vehicles. Don't know about the new Soviet units, though.
Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Yep, that campaign tree looks very promising.
Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Thanks for the good words, guys ^_^
I was having problems with the finnish BT7 and one of the Rcon vehicles from the japs :/ Neither of them is a dealbreaker problem, but i will try to use other models or some new skin to bypass the thing :/
Thanks for the info, Gabe, once again you save me a lot of time and headache, guys

Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Gabe is a fountain of knowledge about this game. Incidentally, when you are ready to upgrade your mod with a new version number, I will notice and change the subject of this thread. That could be with the new version number but my recommendation would be to leave it off altogether and let this thread stand as the central, ongoing repository for this interesting mod! Your choice.

Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Thanks, Bru. My idea was to update the title of the thread when the new version was ready, but i will think about it.
And talking about the devil, the first half of the creature (up to the Coruna scen) is more or less ready, with the new specs, units and branching points working as intended at the moment. A lot of polishing and rebalancing is needed in the next weeks for the new scens, specially regarding IA in late turns, but I'm happy to be able to say that the deadline of somewhen-ish n october still seems plausible

Okay, let me know if you want me to handle the thread title, but as a moderator, I had forgotten that regular users can change thread titles on their own here. Elsewhere, in another forum that I frequent and where I am not a moderator, users cannot do so. Go ahead when you are ready.LNDavoust wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 12:14 pm Thanks, Bru. Also, I have taken an interest in this mod, so I will quietly offer my CSI sweeping capability should you wish to call upon me. Do so only if you wish my help, not from any sense of obligation. I only work with people who want my assistance and take no offense if they take a pass on my offer.

At the moment I welcome any feedback I can obtain about the mod, but in your very qualified case your help would be greatly appreciated. I also feel honored you have some interest in this mod, so Bru, thanks a lotbru888 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 3:28 pm

After playing them dozens of times, I am in a moment when I don't like any of the scens I created so I think the time of releasing them is pretty near
Bonus sneak peek of known as the battle of the fog.
NOTE: since the new release is near, I'm gonna delete the uploaded file of the previous version of the mod.

Thanks for your confidence in my skills. Please realize that I comment upon only the structure of scenarios and campaigns, not their qualities of balance and gameplay. What I do is try to help get them into their most presentable condition so that others can make assessments and recommendations in those aspects.LNDavoust wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 3:48 pmAt the moment I welcome any feedback I can obtain about the mod, but in your very qualified case your help would be greatly appreciated. That said, if you are willing, then I will lend my services to this project because it looks both interesting in subject matter and appealing in meticulous detail. I will wait until the new release to begin my CSI sweep and I will post my results in this thread.
Remember, I have no emotional investment in whether my advice is taken or not. Please feel free to follow all, some, or none of it.

Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Yeah, but however you decide, LNDavoust, you should listen to Bruce's advice...
...actually...
...scratch the whole "however you decide" part and just do it!
The Bruce/Erik design/CSI combo finally elevated Erik's custom campaigns to the level they deserve to be. Playable with all objectives working okay. Virtually no more issues left in the scens I've played the last weeks (except some very minor cosmetic stuff perhaps - almost not worth mentioning)

Re: Spanish Civil War Mod (v0.15)
Looks great to me, I'll give it a try! Plus, I recently refinished Antony Beevor's book about the Spanish Civil War, and do feel like there's lack of game options about it.
