Early Middle Ages, reserve places only now . . .
Please note that the start of this section may be delayed for a short period. It all depends on the official release date of the new "Wolves at the Gate" DLC. If you wish to enter this section but have not decided which army to use, please put "armies to follow" after your name. I will be looking to start this section about a week after the DLC is released.
Edit: "Wolves at the Gate" will be released on Thursday May 30th, so play will commence on Saturday June 8th.
Here is the full army list for the Early Middle Ages league section. There are over 100 armies available to choose from and, initially, players are required to choose 4 of them (from different nations, so not 3 Byzantine armies and a Gepid army, for example). You may also choose historical allies in this section. Please post your army selections in your order of preference in this thread.
Once players have been organised into divisions of 10 based on their playing experience and ability, they will then be allocated one of their four choices. The allocation process will give preference to the lowest rated players (see FOG2DL ratings) in each division. Only very occasionally might a player be asked to make another selection at this stage.
Players will need to have the base game, Legions Triumphant, Age of Belisarius and Wolves at the Gate DLC's to enter this section of the tournament.

Late Antiquity: winners post your results here . . .
Please use the following format when posting your results. Be sure to indicate which division you are playing in, which armies were involved in the battle, and the final score of the battle. It should look very much like this . . .
Division A
hidde (Romans) beat stockwellpete (Carthaginians) 60-46
It may seem a trivial point but please do not report the result as 46-60. It is more helpful if everyone gets used to reporting their results in the same way to avoid any confusion, particularly when an adjudication may be necessary.

Biblical, reserve places only now . . .
Please note that this section will be trialling larger 1600 pt armies.
Here is the full army list for the new Biblical league section. It is split into two sections. There are 16 "hoplite" armies available and you may choose just one of these as part of your four overall choices. There are 25 other armies to choose from and players may choose up to 4 of them (provided they are from different nations, so not 3 Achaemenid Persian or 2 Egyptian armies, for example). Please post your army selections in your order of preference in this thread.

Players will need to have the base game, the Immortal Fire and the Rise of Persia DLC's, and you will also need to download the TT mod (v1.5.3) to enter this section.
The TT mod (v1.5.3) is available here . . . viewtopic.php?f=477&t=89442

Themed Event, reserve places only now . . .
Matches in this section are played to a tighter schedule and must be prioritised above matches from other sections. Either player may set up the challenge in this section. Remember to PM your opponent as well as placing the challenge and password in this thread. The group stage matches will be completed in the first month of the competition, the knock-out matches will be allowed around 18 days for completion. Unfinished matches will be subject to adjudication.
I am hoping that we will be able to recruit 24 players to this section this time so that we can have two separate pools of 12 players in each. This will mean that we can have three players in each of the four qualifying groups instead of the usual four. Players will then play paired games ("mirror matches") at the group stage instead of single battles. If we only manage to recruit 16 players to this section we will use the old system again, where the group stage matches are single battles and the knockout stage of the tournament are paired games.
Match-ups for the Themed Event
Group 1 "Peloponnesian War" (431-404 BC)
1. Spartan 461-281 BC
2. Greek 460-281 BC
3. Achaemenid Persian 419-329 BC
4. Syracusan 412-281 BC
Group 2 "The Wars of Alexander" (334-323 BC)
1. Indian 500 BC-319 AD
2. Macedonian 355-329 BC
3. Achaemenid Persian 419-329 BC
4. Thracian (Triballi) 350-46 BC
Group 3 "The Wars of Pyrrhus" (280-272 BC)
1. Roman 280-220 BC
2. Macedonian 320-261 BC
3. Pyrrhus 280-272 BC
4. Carthaginian 280-263 BC
Group 4 "Great Balkan Migration" (from 279 BC)
1. Galatian 280-63 BC
2. Macedonian 320-261 BC
3. Greek 280-228 BC
4. Thracian (Hellenistic) 350-281 BC
For the knock-out stage, where paired games are used, we will be using 3 official scenarios that I have checked for reasonable balance . . .
Quarter-finals - Raphia 217 BC
Semi-finals - Pydna 168 BC
Final - Phillippi 42 BC
Where players finish with the same number of points at the end of the group stage, the points aggregate from the matches between those players will be used to decide the final places in the group table. If this does not separate the players then lots will be drawn to determine which player proceeds to the next stage of the competition.

Re: Army statisics: FOG2DL
Anders (hidde) has compiled a table showing the win % percentages followed by the number of battles fought (in brackets). Obviously the more battles fought by an army the harder it is to maintain a high win percentage so the records of the Jewish Revolt army (66-135AD), the Indian army (500BC-319AD) and the Romano-British army (407-599AD) are particularly impressive. The complete duffers include the Bosporans (348-85BC) and the Romans (197-284AD).
