Division C for Contemplative
Barrold713 (Babylonians) defeats gamercb (Thracians) 60-57
Seeing the large number of medium foot my idea was to weaken with the great number of arrows I could fling and smack them with the few heavy infantry in my list. Even then it was a very close run thing with gamercb clearly earning his point.

ruskicanuk - Indo-Greeks 175-10 BC defeats dkalenda - Seleucids 166-125 BC, 61 - 47, some pretty intense maneuvering by dkalenda and a late battle burst from the trees, I'll remember this game

Division C
lydianed (Indian) beats mkjhartmann (Scots Irish) 45 -0
Wrong terrain for the Scots who were vulnerable to bowshot, elephants and cavalry on a wide open plain. Kudos to Mike for maintaining grace under pressure.
That's my last game in the division. Thanks to all my opponents. Indians are a great army and in the hands of a more competent general should threaten the top of any league table.

Nijis (Achaemenids) draws with markwatson360 (Lydians) 35-3.
The Lydians go to war against the Persians and... this time a great empire is not destroyed. Darkness falls and there is no conclusive result.

Klayeckles (assyrians) defeates Nijis (achaemenids) 68 to 47
The assyrians scouted out the persian army and saw the superior firepower and determined a straight up shoot out was out of the question. when they arrived at the battlefield they found a rugged landscape that would favor missile fire...it looked really bad for the assyrians. So...they hid in a giant forest at the rear of their side of the map while their emissaries went to the persians to sue for peace. The achaemenids were confident and ripe for a challenge; they sent the assyrian diplomats packing and advanced on the dense forest region. even the assyrian skirmishers took refuge in the woods, so the persians began to encircle the wood.
Then the furthest reaches of the wood erupted on both sides with assyrian cav and chariots as well as heavy assyrian infrantry. the persians split into two forces and began to pummel the assyrians, who also set about to launch their own missile barrages. then, as the persians split into two separate forces, the assyrian medium foot packed away deep in the wood burst forward, engaging the flanks of the two persian wings no longer connected at the center. soon a melee scrum was underway, with the shot up assyrians getting some early disruptions on the persians. The immortals charged into the fray, and things were looking to hang in the balance...either side might win. But before the immortals could save the day several flank charges by the assyrians managed to cause units to frag and rout. in the end, just as the sun was dipping below the horizon and darkness settled, the assyrians managed to pull off a close win over the lethal persian army. GREAT GAME...Nijis was a real sport to try to dislodge the assyrians from the woods; it was a game like no other, and very rewarding that he tried to force the battle even knowing he'd be at a bit of a disadvantage in the wood. Well played and fun for all.

dkalenda has won Classical Antiquity Division A!
Despite being defeated in his most recent match, dkalenda has won Classical Antiquity Division A with his Seleucid army with seven wins from eight matches, after his closest rival klayeckles also lost yesterday. Well played dkalenda!

Go figure. I suppose 2 mountain ranges, 2 lakes, 2 forests, and 2 hills may have given the Armenian archers and med inf a slight advantage. Oh OK it was almost entirely down to the terrain.
Your Gods helped you… the battlefield was unbelievable and Paul played a perfect game.
