Good luck to all. As you will see I cannot be there - but a silver lining as you now have an even number.

Re: Oxford events for 2018
On behalf of the Wessex contingent (David Egglestone and Patrick & Brendan), thank you for a splendid day's gaming and for all the hard work put in by members of the Oxford club to organise the day. Very much appreciated and we look forward to coming back next year (and maybe doing a little better!).

I would like to echo what Brendon said with particular thanks to Bob & Ben and to Dave Hutchby for the splendid prizes. Not forgetting Patrick, whose average curassiers were superstars on Sunday! Well done guys.

Re: Oxford events for 2018 - 25mm Open
Dear all,
can we now start discussion around the open 25mm FOGR planned at Oxford on Sunday 21st October - I know it is a long way off but tempus fugit and holidays (and work!) intervene.
Show of hands for interested?
Any views about size of armies (tables 6ftx4ft or 8ft x4 ft; latter restricting numbers of participants)?
Any views about special rules around deployment for 25mm (e.g. camp half depth to create more room)?
Anything else?
Tom

Yep
Half-depth camp sounds good
8x4 would be interesting - how many can you sit at that size?

Re: Oxford events for 2018
Tim,
thanks.
Any more likely to be coming to the 25mm on 21 October to give us a feel. I ask also because an alternative has been suggested (in the light of no Southampton event and no way of the Warriors).
Two thoughts have occurred around the fundamental idea that our location at Oxford makes us pretty easy to reach from a broad part of the country.
1. Short term; would it be a good idea to convert our 25mm open day into a 15mm pikes day to replace Southampton (but with full new rules)?
2. Longer term; we could easily run a quarterly Sunday event at our club covering the four main FOGR periods (being us one would be specific to ECW of course). Additionally one or more of those events could be two day but run as two separate one days to allow for maximum participation (perhaps offering opportunity for 25mm as well on one of the days).
Please may I have thoughts on these ideas?
Tom

Dear all,
October 21st no longer a million miles off. So grateful for confirmation now of those planning to come to the 25mm on 21 October.
However, an alternative has been suggested (in the light of no Southampton event and no way of the Warriors) building on the fundamental idea that our location at Oxford makes us pretty easy to reach from a broad part of the country.

Please may I have thoughts on these ideas? Particulalry the first bullet so that we know what the view is about the October 21st date.

Re: Oxford events for 2018
No thoughts on 21st October (other than it being Trafalgar Day, so a good tot of rum for all competitors should be compulsory).
Like the idea of quarterly visits to your part of the world for four one-dayers.

OK thanks. Let us see what others think but we are inclined to offer this quarterly event for next year.

A quarterly one dayer would be great at Oxford. Also will be coming on 21st, don’t mind either 25mm or pikes.

Re: Oxford events for 2018
I'm happy either way for the 21st, with a slight entirely personal leaning towards 25mm ECW stuff, as that's probably been the longest sat in the box of all of my FoGR stuff.

Re: Oxford events for 2018
Tim,
I know just what you mean. So far 25mm is ahead for October 21st (I also recall, way back, Dene saying he was coming to the 25 mm event as well as Brendan and Patrick).

Re: Oxford events for 2018
I would love to come, but unfortunately only get back in the UK at midnight Saturday night.
I will try and attend as many one day events as possible next year as I will be slowing to 3 days a week.
Oxford is good for me as not too far to drive.

Don,
great. Well done on the wind down. I have just gone to 75% (for an academic this is barely working at all I suppose).

Re: Oxford events for 2018
Hi everyone,
Yes I will be coming on 21st October. I hope it stays 25mm as advertised. Either open or If it becomes themed I was hoping to use my nearly finished Ottomans.
regards Dene

Dene,
So far all the views expressed are pro 25mm for our 21st October event. Hence I am not really expecting g a g pressure for change. The final call will be made immediately after the bank holiday. It would be an open evsnt certainly.
