Game crashing after loading (Steam version)

Post by Grimgog ug Blitzbad »

Hello, I just bought the steam version of this game yesterday and every time I try to play it crashes shortly after I get to the main menu with a Fatal Application Exit error " ***Unhandled Exception ExpCode: 0xC0000005 ExpFlags: 0 ExpAddress: 0x5FD50133 ".

I have uploaded the two error trace files:
error_trace.zip
(2.23 KiB) Downloaded 129 times
; as well as my DxDiag file:
DxDiag.zip
(14.01 KiB) Downloaded 113 times
.

Thank you!

welcome to the forum, and sorry for your issues, looking at part of the files you sent now, other part is for the developers to look at and comment on

incorrect audio drivers, you have or when bought, someone downloaded the Nvidia GPU drivers, and also sound, which over wrote the onboard sound card one, which is maybe what the game is looking for?
while sound may still work in most games, some it will or could or may at times lead to errors, Description: S271HL (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)

Realtek High Definition Audio Driver none

Code: Select all

windows error messaging logs,

Windows Error Reporting: P1: AUDIODG.EXE

Event Name: BEX64 P1: AUDIODG.EXE

both audio ones, and none for the game, or any tbh

no idea on error logs, that's for the developer to look at and comment

Thanks for the quick response.
The "Description: S271HL (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)" that was referenced in DxDiag is my non-surround monitor, ACER S271HL, which is hooked up via HDMI and the reason that DxDiag sees it as an audio device I think. But the only sound device I use is the Logitech headphones.

the sound chip is on the mother board, without drivers for it, sound will work in some game, but not in others, but may not be the error in this case, just pointing it out, from your report, it mentions your msi motherboard, which does have the sound chip mentioned, not a Nvidia one, which has been over ridden with a vga driver update pack as some stage, happens a lot tbh, while most never notice it, or need to change it, some game refuse to work with it loaded, while others don't mind, some won't load at all if no drivers are loaded so thought i'd mention it, easy option to check is removed it or update and run game,

if it works with what i've suggested, you have won, if not, you also haven't lost anything either, as just do a driver roll back

Yeah, I did try that after reading your initial response; updated the drivers about 3 different times but no dice.

maybe just a dual card issue, or higher res issue but would be guessing tbh

Current Mode: 5760 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)

and dual cards with high amounts of ram in a 32bit program, is asking for some memory issue, but like i said, i'd be guessing, sorry but better wait until Monday when office is back open and one of the developers can look and comment,...
NVIDIA SLI-enabled system and are ready to take advantage of scalable games and applications!
and will also need to check if it's supported as well, so maybe more than one issue here

one more thing to try before Monday, what is your anti virus?

don't need to name it tbh, just check the logs to see if it's blocked anything game related, as some, less unfriendly ones, tend to be very poor with some games, it happens.

just something else of the top of my head.

and as you say it loads, you could also try this,
The game will attempt to use the vsync of the monitor, though it can be over-ruled by the card specific control panels. If you want to avoid vsync, a simple way would be to run in a window at your native rez (there is by default no border, so looks identical to fullscreen).
and see if that works and is stable for you, something else to try or test anyway

It's a single card actually, not SLI...but I do have 3 monitors.

And I reckon that the issue has to do with the 3 monitors or some such, as I bit the bullet and disabled the surround mode and it appears that the game plays ok (so far) without it. Hopefully they'll have some info to address that issue, as I don't want to have to disable the surround mode just to play the one game.
Anyways, thanks for the assistance!

If you check your OPTIONS.TXT file in My Documents/My Games/SANCTUS what are the values for the resolution (REZX & REZY). Try setting them to your total screen area values. You could also try disabling fullscreen in the options file too, it will default to a frameless mode which looks the same as fullscreen but can have less issues with non-standard setups.

Cheers
