Sounds really good
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
So is it safe to say this is like Rome Total War but with turn-based battles?

It looks like it. However I think it will be a better game overall in terms of replay value (Random Map Generator and Editor).
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
It has much more depth than Rome Total War in the strategic layer. As for the battles, they are played out in a typical 4X fashion but units have a lot of details and statistics to them, so you need to tailor your strategy on the units at your disposal as well as the geography of where you're fighting.tgb wrote:So is it safe to say this is like Rome Total War but with turn-based battles?
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
Does that mean that the battles themselves are outside player control? I'm actually fine with that provided there's enough depth to army composition, location of battles, etc.AlbertoC wrote:. Basically you move your unit across the map and when you attack another unit the outcome is decided by a number of variables.tgb wrote:Does that mean that the battles themselves are outside player control? Not quite, more akin to games like Civilization, but much deeper.
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
Can you combine armies? For example infantry and Cavalry into a combined force. How about generals? Can you assign a general to an army?AlbertoC wrote:Not quite, more akin to games like Civilization, but much deeper.

Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
So it is like the Civilization series fought only in the ancient period but with greater depth?
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
That's a bit reductive but you could say it's sort of like thatAlexDetrojan wrote:So it is like the Civilization series fought only in the ancient period but with greater depth?
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
Each unit is individual, you can't combine them into armies, and there are no generalsathineos wrote:Can you combine armies? For example infantry and Cavalry into a combined force. Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
I hope it will manage many aspects of this era such politics, civil war, economy( importance of Egypt), social(rise of non Roman citizen) because if no it will be like a clone of Rome Total War. I really hope we will have a great control of economy and could sucess to become a power without much annexion. I hate games that push to conquer every province.
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
So units are moved individually? Do they stack, or is it one per tile/hex?AlbertoC wrote:Each unit is individual, you can't combine them into armies, and there are no generalsathineos wrote:Can you combine armies? Looking forward to getting into the beta.
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
There is a limit of number of units on one tile. It is absolutely configurable (so when you create your own scenario, you can change it) but for the campaign map, it is set to max 3 units per tiletgb wrote:So units are moved individually? Do they stack, or is it one per tile/hex?
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
Very exciting - an ancient empires 4X is something I've wanted for a long time.
From the screenies the UI looks to have that 'tiny, barely readable font' problem that so many games have. I wish they would do an adjustable UI like 'Endless Legend' - it's a fantastic feature. Lots of us strategy gamers have eyesight that's not what it used to be and I'm one of them.

Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
Will it come with German language ,too?
Re: Aggressors: Ancient Rome is announced!
Thx, Pavelk! Maybe a german manual would do...it would make it easier to better understand the more complex mechanics. And: many Germans like me love this kind of games!
