Re: Italian Wars Campaign Gameplay
Just to reassure and tantalise you all, the Papal/Neapolitan battle is progressing well and approaching a climax. The score is 55-52 in Andre's favour. I will lose a fragmented unit next turn but still have some hopes.
The Battle of Milan
The Duke of Milan fought tenaciously for his fair city. The terrain of the battlefield, with high ground surrounding low lying woodlands and marshes, compelled both armies to divide their armies into two wings. This resulted in several separate actions instead of the usual linear battle lines. It was a too close to call battle that ended suddenly with a Venetian victory of 61/52 over Milan.

Battle for Rome
Andre's Neapolitans finally broke the resistance of my Papal troops this morning. He won by a 61-56 margin, but at the end had all his troops together and acting in concert. Unfortunately mine were more scattered and therefore less able to kill the remaining unit or two that I needed.
It was a fun game and Andre payed well against my defences and a helpful terrain (woods on either side of my fortified line). In the end is more coordinated approach made the difference.
So I guess that means that we flee to the city gates and my good friend Alexander and his consorts will be hoping to sneak away on a horse and find sanctuary somewhere. Constantinople perhaps?

Fall 1499 Battle Results Phase
I'm happy to see that both battles were very close in spite of the 200 FP difference in the size of the armies.
The defeated Milan army withdraws to the fortified city of Milan and converts to a garrison. Note that Milan still owns the province and city of Milan, but receives income only for the city. Venice receives income for the province of Milan.
The defeated Rome army withdraws to the fortified city of Rome and converts to a garrison. Note that Papacy still owns the province and city of Rome, but receives income only for the city. Naples receives income for the province of Rome.
The Fall 1499 record sheet has been updated with the city count at the end of the turn.

Re: Italian Wars Campaign Gameplay
Here is the Spring 1500 Record Sheet with the income recorded and the unit supply deducted. If you have 3 or more ducats in your treasury (you can top it up with a loan from the Money Lenders) then you can build new units in a province in your home country with a city that you control for 3d each. The province must not be occupied by an enemy unit, and cannot contain a famine symbol.
PM me your builds. You have until the end of Thursday March 8th to submit builds. I will update the map with the builds on Friday morning.

Just to confirm, can you borrow in the build phase too or only in the expenditure/orders phase?

You can borrow from the Money Lenders at any time, just PM me. It is instant. Borrowing from other players is an expense order only.Pixel wrote:Just to confirm, can you borrow in the build phase too or only in the expenditure/orders phase?

Here is the Spring 1500 Campaign Map after annual builds:
Lets take three days for both negotiations and order writing. Expense and movement orders are due at the end of Monday March 12th. If I have all of the orders before that then I will process the orders sooner.

Re: Italian Wars Campaign Gameplay
William,
I am off to Australia for 9 days from tomorrow. I will be occasionally logging on to read what's happening but won't be able to fight any battles.
Rather than hold up the campaign, and to settle battles by a random die throw, can I ask if I can appoint a champion to fight a battle for me? If there is more than one I would appoint more than 1 champion if I can find them.

I have no problem with appointing a "mercenary" stand-in.awesum4 wrote:William,

Re: Italian Wars Campaign Gameplay
Here is the Spring 1500 Movement & Combat Map:
The 2nd Battle of Milan
Venice sets up either an Open Battle or Defend scenario, because they started in the battle province. Milan has 1,200 FP and Venice has 1,400 FP. The additional 200 FP for the attacker is due to the support that Venice is receiving from Austria and France, while Milan's army is supported by the Garrison. Retreat paths: Venice to Bergamo, Milan to Cremona.
The Battle of Pisa
Roll for defender (1-3 = Genoa) = 5. Sienna sets up an Open Battle. Sienna has 1,200 FP and Genoa has 1,200 FP. Retreat paths: Sienna to Lucca, Genoa to Sienna.
The Battle of Perugia
Florence sets up either an Open Battle or Defend scenario, because they started in the battle province. Florence has 1,200 FP and Naples has 1,200 FP. Retreat paths: Naples to Arezzo, Florence converts to a Garrison in the fortified city of Perugia.
As usual battles are to be resolved in 15 days, or by the end of March 29th

Re: Italian Wars Campaign Gameplay
Challenge created for the Perugia battle. awesum4 can either pick it up after he returns from koala land or appoint a mercenary captain to stand in. If no other resolution is possible dice is fine too. But with the fifteen days I think we can probably manage it. (Hope I set it up correctly)
