There is a limitation when creating a custom skirmish. If you enter a custom value for "Player Points" or "Enemy Points" you are required to make the match private with a password. Why??
As a workaround you can explain what the password is in the comments field, but still the match shows up as private and is a lot less likely to be viewed by potential opponents...
Cannot create a public skirmish with custom army point value
Re: Cannot create a public skirmish with custom army point v
welcome to the forum, sorry about your issue but that is by design
Re: Cannot create a public skirmish with custom army point v
Is the reason for this design decision known? As far as I'm concerned it makes the multiplay aspect of this game not as fun as it could be.
Re: Cannot create a public skirmish with custom army point v
unless a developer comments on it, i'm sorry i also have no idea or reasons, but they do read the posts, so hopefully one will reply

If you create an asymmetric game it is assumed that (a) there is a reason for it and (b) your opponent is aware and has agreed to it. Having open games with mismatched forces makes it too easy for noobs to grab a game to try things out and get a non-optimal experience.

Thanks for replying, Pip.
Actually I was not trying to create an asymmetric game. I just wanted to create an even game but with a higher army point value than the presets allow. Is there some other way to accomplish that with a regular public skirmish? For example I was trying to create a skirmish with 6,000 points for each side.

The limitations are hooked into the skirmish logic, so unfortunately not. Though the same caveats apply really - no new player is going to have much fun in a massive 6000 point game as their first try

there is a good chance, that we will get higher pre-sets than 3200 points / very large. the game is not crashing anymore with higher point sizes and the random army lists works well with 5000+ point games.
