Stuttering on initial playback?

I have a weird thing going on, which is that when there's a lot of ships in a battle, when I first press "go", framerate drops very low, until the very end, but when I replay it, it's smooth as glass.

Doesn't seem like a graphical issue, since in replay it works just fine, just wondering if anyone else has seen this and/or has a solution? Thanks.

best to post the log file so others / developers can have a look

which version do you have?

steam or site etc.
How to get a Directx Dialog file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
then post file in tech support for them to look at it for you, they will also soon hopefully post where both saves are kept and also log file, as i can do it, but it's will be up soon enough

Thanks for the suggestion. I posted about it in tech support. Strange, though, that nobody else is reporting this. And everything else works. Maybe my computer hates the game. Dumb computer.

That is strange. Could you post a log file? That might tell me if something is going wrong.

Run the game, and then exit. Look in the install folder (default is C:\Slitherine or in Steam you'll need to find the game in your library, right click and choose properties then "browse local files") then in StarHammerVP_data. The log file is called output_log.txt. Either post it here, or send to support@slitherine.co.uk.

Everything in that log looks ok, so it's nothing obvious. I'll need to investigate more. Does the problem occur on all missions, or just specific ones? What about skirmish mode?

Yes, all missions. Seems directly proportional to the number of ships/things happening. Maybe this is normal and I'm just picky? Obviously it doesn't affect the game at all since there's nothing to do during simulation, and you can always replay.

Just, whatever's happening during the initial simulation that's not happening during a replay, that's what's slowing it down.
