army list variances

Post by Strategiser »

Hi all,

Could you please clarify for me as to why there are certain differences between the army lists presented in the core rulebook and the other books? E.g. some numbers in the French Infantry Corps D'Armee 1812 from the rulebook do not correspond with those given in the Triumph of Nations book for the same army, even after accounting for the very latest errata releases for both books (both released on the same day just before Christmas).

Also, on a related topic, I noticed that the criteria for creating points based divisions differ between the two books. E.g. in the rulebook it says that for a Cavalry Division there needs to be a minimum of 2 units, whereas in the Triumph of Nations Appendix it states the minimum to be 3 units. Which one is the correct one?

Many thanks in advance.

The lists in the rulebook were there so people had some idea of how the system would work, and to have a sample set of lists when the rule book was published. The army lists were published after the rule book.

The two army list books take precedence over the rule book lists.

The correct division requirement for cavalry is as in the rulebook: minimum of 2 units. This has been pointed out by Terry in posts here:
