Newbie questions

Post by Krautman »

Hi all,

the Pike & Shot beta has really got me interested in a tabletop version, so I've ordered the 'Renaissance' rulebook, due to arrive by the end of the week. Maybe the experienced hobby generals among you could give me some advice - which scale of miniatures and which manufacturer would you recommend? And which colours should I best use for painting the minis?

Thanks in advance
k.

On scale: I would stick with 15mm as that is very popular...

Figs suppliers there are many. A good source will be Tim Porters web site "www.madaxeman.com" which has a wealth of useful stuff. Including match reports which will give you flavour of the table top game with some army and rule pointers...

I think a nice newbie place to go is "Thirty Years War". Most armies are tough enough, and have enough variety. Choose something that you like.

If you are going to do thirty years war Germans you can't go past the Khurasan miniatures range. They are a bit pricey but we'll worth it.

Museum miniatures do a nice range as well.

I've morphed my 30 years war army into 1/2 dozen different nations just by changing the banners on the pike.
