Axis operation west & Usa/Gb grand campaign

Post by GUNDOBALDO08 »

I liked Bulge mini campaign, but IMO PC2 mechanics give the best in longest campaign… so I hope We can see very soon west part of AO, including africa and grand campaign USA/GB (maybe also with some polish and french premium units), from 1939 to 1945.

Agreed that Panzer Corps 2 is best when the campaigns are longer. There is the point after which a bloated player core can solve almost any issue, but this can be also manipulated by setting modifiers to speed of gained experience and some other tweaks. Still having smaller bits of content is not an issue for me, in fact I am very happy this took place, as it sets up a possibility for other types for DLC, such as campaigns for smaller nations that took part in the fighting.

As for AO West - I'd give it some time, probably even a year or so, as building up allied content will not only be a refreshing change, but also allow to update the unit roster and experiment with various ideas. There's more good candidates for the Frontlines series (Husky, Compass, Torch, Market Garden etc.). but I'd prefer we'd just have a few that could help expand on some of the game's quirks and then focus on a more long-form allied campaign.

Just a thought, why not tie the Frontline DLC together? Just hit the major battles, and be able to transfer your core.
Dunkirk could be great ! Save your core and then get them for the next major showdown in Africa.

Could work, but if you connect them anyway IMO you can as well go for a bigger, multi DLC campaign from start.

Would hope that it is not a combined allied campaign but rather a GB campaign (maybe with some free french, canadian, polish etc), and then a US only.

The British/Allied one can start in 1939 while the US would start with operation torch. Or maybe a basic training in the US for land units and maybe a a single air scenario where US pilots fight in battle of britain as part of an eagle squadron.

Agree 110%

Really did not like how the GB campaign in PC1 morphed into a US/US-GB campaign. Even the narrator changed from a British chap to Batman.

Another fun idea for the US would be to have a bombing german factory mission.

The twist would be that aircraft would not be required to go back to base between turns. It would be a straight run from england to a german target that needs to be destroyed.

Along the way there is flak and of course german fighters.

Need to destroy targets, and XX amount of bombers need to survive.

Would be a mix of core units and aux units.

No healing the entire mission.

But make it huge! Like 50 bombers and 25 escorts huge.

Agreed, more specific campaigns give room for more creativity.

I'd prefer Frontlines to be its own thing, it can be not only unique, but also staging grounds for experimental ideas on how to handle scenarios and introduce ideas. Grand, long campaigns should focus on what makes them great in their own right and that requires different scenario design and campaign flow.
