Wow - What With Update 1.10.03?

Post by canuckgamer »

I installed the update that was released today and it took over an hour!. Crazy for a file that is 1,947,406 KB. Someone should be optimizing this.

I have an I-7 - 10700 CPU @2.90 GHz and 32 GB Ram - Windows 10.

You may be interested in considering a purely "Solid-State-Computer" that i have already posted about in the Forum...under... "Escape to New York is Live". I have had no difficulties "What-So-Ever"... of any-kind!. Also... i am using Windows 11.

I have two SSDs but that obviously didn't help. I'll find out more about a solid state PC but updates for the games I have usually take an average of about 5 minutes.

With my ROG ZEPHYRUS DUO 15SE... Updates and Downloads are "Extremely Fast!". Some as fast as a mere dozen seconds to a maximum of less than 1-minute!.

If it's Steam it fell together with the Bulge release. So may be just a case of online traffic jam.

In my case it was done in minutes like regular updates. No fancy computer here, well, maybe for 2014 standards. Just wanted to share that.

Was it an install issue, or a download speed issue?

But I also update through Steam, and have a Fiber Optic connection.

I assume most people have the former (but not all), and almost no one (but not no one at all) has the benefit of the latter.

I my experience the Slitherline updater reinstalls the whole game with each update, take 20+ minutes. I tend to go off and do something else, so don't know how long it takes.

Steam updates the game with a 100MB to 200MB download, takes a few minutes.

On my new machine I just use Steam because Slitherline does not have a clean install, and one needs to do several updates to get to the latest update.
There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.

Same here. PC is new, but nothing fancy. Previous installations also took a while, but I didn’t time them.

I have another type of issue with this, on GOG - the update just keeps installing and installing, despite the game already being up to date. Each time I close the app it goes again into download and installation mode. Nothing major, but a bit strange, since the game is up to date in theory already.

I have the later connected to my desktop PC by ethernet cable, not WiFi. And my tested DL and UL times are both consistently over 900 mbps/sec.

BTW, I use Steam and have experienced no issues updating PC2 on my system.

I think I get it now. I had problem starting the Steam version this morning and ran a "quick" file validating check. That took more than 2,5 hours. Even checking the amount of files in the folder took almost 15 minutes (just properties check). It is bigger on the inside, 17,5gb takes almost 60gb on disk. Ah well, just want to acknowledge that installing can be slow.
