Gustav Vasa -- Phase 5: Planning orders

Post by cavehobbit »

Hi,

We're now six players and the campaign will soon start. But if you're interesting in joining, send me a PM. As more armies joins the civil war, more commanders are needed.

Historical setting:
In 1397 the three countries Denmark, Sweden and Norway joined under a single monarch in what is called The Kalmar union. Despite many internal conflicts during the 15th century, the union lived on. But in 1521 a new Swedish nobleman, Gustav Vasa started a rebellion which ended in 1523. Gustav Vasa succeeded and became king of Sweden, which ended the union. Read more about the historical background here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_War_of_Secession

This campaign is loosely based Gustav Vasa's rebellion and start in spring 1521 and ends in June 1523. There will be 16 strategic phases in which the players move armies and fight to control provinces and castles/cities. Each battle in the campaign will last for max 15 turns, and both sides have about 20 BG's in a battle.

Players

Danish
Pantherboy (Faction leader)
Batesmotel
Mike48

Swedish
Hidde (Faction leader)
Voskarp
Turk1964

Here you can read the campaign rules: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/535 ... _v_1_1.pdf
Here's both sides units (order of battle) in the campaign: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/535 ... _start.pdf

Welcome, Steve :D

Interested so far:
Stockwellpete -- Swedish (Faction leader)
Turk1964 -- Danish
Voskarp (will be joining soon)
Hidde
Pantherboy -- Danish (Faction leader)

I think that's enough to start, but if more are interested you're welcome to join.

Could you please tell which side you prefer to play and if you're prepared to take the role as leader for the two factions. Voskarp and Hidde has asked not to be faction leaders. It's not that demanding as it sounds, and I will be there to help :D

Cheers,
P-A

Thanks! As I wrote, it's not that demanding. At least not in a campaign small as this one.

OK, I've read through the rules and ready to begin at your convenience. Let me know who my other Captain is beside Turk and then I will pow wow with them on strategy and division of command.

Put me down for the campaign as well. I'm willing to play either side but prefer not to be a faction head.

Welcome Chris, and thanks for joining us!

Steve and Pete are faction leaders, so you don't need to worry about that part. I'd like to hear from Hidde and Voskarp which side they prefer. I guess they probably stay Swedish... :D but I send them a PM just in case. If so, you should start practice your Danish 8)

I have just been to Lubeck and secured a loan of 100,000 silver marks - so the Swedish side is the side to be on! :D

I've been in contact with Hidde and Voskarp. As I suspected, Hidde felt it natural both of them join the Swedish side. And Voskarp could play either side, so I will let them help Pete. This means Chris will be Danish.

Voskarp can't start any battle until Monday next week. But as we have two teams you can start planning your orders. If something is unclear, don't hesitate to contact me.

Good luck!

A couple of things about strategic movement.
1) It is not possible to transport armies over the lake from Westra Götaland (I.) to Östra Götaland (K.). Maybe we could allow this during phase 7 and 14 (winter phases)?
2) There is no connection between Dalarna (A.) and Uppland (D.), but it's ok to move between Gestrikland (C.) and Westmanland (E.). It is also ok to move between Nerke (F.) and Sörmland (L.)
3) No other Norwegian provinces than Bohus (N.) take part in the campaign.
4) The province north of Helsingland (B.) is not a part of the campaign.
5) The island in the Baltic are not part of the campaign.

Hopefully you already had understood this, but I thought it better to clarify before you start planning your orders.
I've decided to restrict the campaign map to make the campaign more simple and to be played more quicker.

Ok, the dice decided that the Swedish moves first this phase.

Combined order for 1st phase
1st Swedish -- Army in Gestrikland to attack Vasteras castle, Westmanland
1st Danish -- Army of Skane to Westra Gotaland and attack newly raised enemy forces

2nd Swedish -- Army in Dalarna to attack Vasteras castle, Westmanland
2nd Danish -- Army of Bohus to Westra Gotaland and attack newly raised enemy forces if Army of Skane defeated otherwise don't move

3rd Swedish -- Army in Nerke to attack Orebro castle
3rd Danish -- Vasteras - Defend the province

4th Danish -- Uppsala - Defend the province

5th Danish -- Orebro - Defend the castle

Confirmed battles:
Westmanland -- Army of Gestrikland AFD Army of Västerås (Army of Västerås did deploy in the fields outside the castle to defend the province.) Due to some loopholes in the rules an army inside a castle may choose to fight in the fields if the province is attacked.
Westra Götaland -- Army of Skåne AFD Army of Westra Götaland
Örebro castle -- Army of Nerke AFD Army of Örebro

Potential battles:
Västerås castle -- Army of Dalarna AFD survivors Army of Vasteras
Westra Götaland -- Army of Bohus AFD survivors Army of Westra Götaland

I'd like to know which 20 BG's from the following armies that will be fighting the battles:
Swedish
Army of Gestrikland
Army of Westra Götaland
Army of Nerke

Danish
Army of Skåne
Army of Västerås (as a named commander is commanding this army)
Army of Örebro (as a named commander is commanding this army)

Please pm me this and which player will command which army.

Quick question. Is it ok if I use the Swedish letters åäö or would you prefer aao?

Hi all,

Sorry to keep you waiting. Don't know if all of you been informed of the great idea Pantherboy came up with. As Knights with only swords are of not much use against heavy weapons he asked if it's possible to have the Knights dismounted. I thought this was a good idea and Stockwellpete agreed to have the option to use knights dismounted.
Sadly I noticed there's no parameter in the scenario editor to allow Mounted Knights to become Dismounted Knights. But after some experimentation with the scenario .xml file I've now succeeded to allow players to change Alternative troop type for Knights :D But I will need another day to fix the code for all the scenarios. Please be patient... 8)

But on the other hand I've still not got the lists of BG's for all of the armies involved...
I'd like to know which 20 BG's from the following armies that will be fighting the battles:
Swedish
Army of Gestrikland
Army of Westra Götaland
Army of Nerke

Danish
Army of Skåne -- I have this one, thanks Steve
Army of Västerås (as a named commander is commanding this army)
Army of Örebro (as a named commander is commanding this army)

Please pm me this and which player will command which army.

Two battles are ready to begin (still waiting for the Swedish lineup for the attack on Örebro castle).

Westmanland -- Army of Gestrikland (Hidde) AFD Army of Västerås (Pantherboy) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/535 ... anland.zip
Westra Götaland -- Army of Skåne (Batesmotel) AFD Army of Westra Götaland (Stockwellpete) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/535 ... taland.zip
Örebro castle -- Army of Nerke (Voskarp) AFD Army of Örebro (Turk1964) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/535 ... castle.zip

If you are having trouble downloading and 'installing' the scenarios, or if you find some errors, please tell me at once and I will help you.

Important! Remember to set 'Free Deployment' in addition to Fog of war and Double moves.

Good luck!
