Turn 4

Diplomatic News -
Rome and the Seleucids have chosen to put off their inevitable clash, for now, by renewing their non-aggression pact.
The Seleucid web also extends to the bloodied Pontics - who have signed a non-aggression pact in Seleucia.

Battles:
Danny's Pontics including warleader (500) have lanuched a naval invasion of the Bosphorian's minor city 59 (450 points)* defended by Dave.
Dave's Carthagians including warleader (500) have launched a naval invasion of the Italian penisular, again, this time hitting the slightly softer nut of province 49 (400)
Chris decides to reignite the war with Ptolemaic Egypt with a Selucid invasion - including warleader (500) - of province 19 (400) defended by Jonah
Chris' Selucids (400) also attack Permagon's Attalid dynasty (400) defended by Jonah
Neil's Ptolemaic warleader (500), meanwhile, is having another crack at Athens (500) defended by Danny
IDS' Romans (400) continue their single-minded extermination of all things Gaulish (400) with an assualt on province 41 defemded by Chris
The Roman's Warleader finally lashes back at one of their tormentors with an attack on Macedonian province 54 - only to encounter the Macedonian war leader coming the other way, with an attack on province 53 - leading to a 900 vs 900 clash!
Turk's Macedonians (400) also attack Roman's other Balkan province - 56 (400)

*: whilst Pontus is still a minor state at this stage, and therefore should not be able to conduct a Naval Invasion, given how close Pontus is now to becoming a major state, it seems churlish to discount this order - particulalrly as it mirrors historical reality!

Please note that while Neil takes a deserved holiday, I will be stepping in to fight his battles for this turn.

LET ME KNOW IF I'VE MISSED ANYTHING

Some questions....

Since i have 2 minor cities in province 49 , should i not be defending against the Carthage scum with 450 pts or even 500 pts ?
I beleive my game against Chris in province 41 should be defended by 450 pts of smelly gauls.
and
do turk and i fight over both 53 and 56 in the 900 vrs 900 game , winner takes both provinces ?

Hi Ian,
minor and major cities are depicted on the map as black circles with white centres, and are listed in the rules section. The map I have stolen and corrupted for this campaign has little black dots with names of ancient cities on in a number of provinces. I have kept these on the map for historical interest (and laziness), but they do not translate into extra troops - I hope this clarifies the firts two questions.

As for the the third - Yes! And I take some vicarious pleasure from it. Good luck - updates will be very welcome!

Ian you haven't set the challenge with open book. It only allows me to choose from Rise of Rome armies. I have to use Macedonian successor which is in Immortal Fire. I will issue the challenge password= Tryagain.

Cheers Turk

batesmotel (Lowland Gauls(early)) 36/38
iandavidsmith (Mid Republican Romans) 36/35

The Gauls in Province 41 have finally located some of the Druid's magic elixir and repulsed the Roman aggressors. Thanks for a hard fought and close right to the end game.
