I don't remember any limit on the number of times an IC can be used in a season, only that there is extra renown if you use them and you can't replace them. Mine's dead by the way.

sounds fair - arguably the pts might've been better spent elsewhere...

My Tahirids defeated K's Cypriots - a damned close game!
46/44 to 43/45.
Oh - looted Cypriot camp. I was present on the bf.

I had a PM from him a couple of days ago - RL has been really busy for him but he should be back in the fray soon.

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
Yes there is a restriction on IC being used once per season from memmory. There is an advantage using them as troops behave a lot better and there is a bigger chance of getting the battlefield you need.I thought everyone knew this rule and in my view is an unfair advantage. Too late now though and sorry Keyth but IC s do make a difference.
Cheers Turk.

I know - what I meant was that we can't tell the exact advantage in each game that was played. So the only real course of action is to deduct the 'Taking the field' bonus where it was claimed more than once in a season.Turk1964 wrote:sorry Keyth but IC s do make a difference.

Again, of course they were an advantage in themselves - but theyre damned expensive. It's not like one gets a free IC every season and macsen and i got these twice. Then I could understand your post. We payed 60 pts for em. If we had remembered to not take them, we'd've had more troops - maybe have won a game we lost. The only advantage we received outside of a fair payment in APs is the taking the field bonus - and this will be deducted.
As I understand it the rule is to add some role-play element, not because they're a special advantage or too cheap? In other tourns I dont see too may ppl using them. We don't have a rule restricting knights, or superior armoured foot.

Are you deducting the bonus for all games in that season or just ones after the first? I'd probably suggest the former rather than the latter but figured it would be good to clarify it.keyth wrote:I know - what I meant was that we can't tell the exact advantage in each game that was played. Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
This is my understanding as well for the IC restriction in the campaign, that it is for a role playing element and that it does give you the taking the field bonus if you win. Outside the campaign context I do not think that ICs are under priced for what benefits they provide in the game. I some times find it worthwhile to pay the points for an IC in a 500 point game, but more often I will either take the extra troops or two lesser commanders for the price of an IC.Aristides wrote:Turk:

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
As this rule is inferred rather than explicitly stated and these are mistakes rather than anything more sinister, I think the best (and least contentious) solution is to deduct the TTF bonus for games where an IC should not have been used. So if two battles in one season were TTF, one bonus would remain.batesmotel wrote:

iandavidsmith: Arabs 40/37
Tiavals: Abbasids 30/41
Arabs lose 1 FC
No loot.
Things seemed like they'd go a lot better than they did. Was it due to IDS skill or a mystical intervention, it remains unknown...
