Re: To Tame a Land
No it was a 500 pt.Well i got that part confused so i guess the rest is correct
Re: To Tame a Land
The rest is close! The % army modifier is used if one side chooses to use less than 500 points, otherwise no modifier.
You scored 47, taking you to 297. Sarpedon scored 3 (250 - 246.5 = 3.5, Excel has decided that this is 3... this rounding will be the same for everyone so I'm not going to fight with Excel ) taking him to 253.
Thanks for the result!

Re: To Tame a Land
Would one be able to Resign from a game if his commander was in imminent danger of being killed, without really "losing" that much? Points are a small price to pay when the other option is total defeat.
Re: To Tame a Land
That is an option, yes.Tiavals wrote:Would one be able to Resign from a game if his commander was in imminent danger of being killed, without really "losing" that much? Points are a small price to pay when the other option is total defeat.

Re: To Tame a Land
Having fielded the incorrect army, the Red faction pays the ultimate price as its leader lies dead on the field!
Tiavals 20/38, enemy inspired leader killed, Took the field, 220 renown for a total of 470
keyth 40/36, Took the field, 20 renown but all for naught!
The red banner falls over Antiocheia and the Imperial purple is raised in its place.
And then there were seven....

Re: To Tame a Land
It's kind of a bummer that you went down on the first round for bringing in the wrong army. Especially since you're the organizer and all.

It will make adjudication simpler, that's for sure! If the format works out, I'm sure I will run another and pay more attention rather than just grabbing the first 500 point army of the shelf...

Re: To Tame a Land
I think being thrown out of the whole campaign is perhaps too harsh a penalty.
What about something like that player can no longer attack the player who 'killed' him? A sort of forced alliance...
If we do continue the way it is, what happens to other games involving that player?

Re: To Tame a Land
An announcement from the one true Imperator Rex Graecorum:
The Crimea has long been considered lands of the House of Aristides. A polite note was delivered to the head of the House of Turk MCMLXIV suggesting they vacate our lands, but our sacred herald was blinded and thrown on the street. Such insult will not be tolerated. An army has been sent to punish the Turk.
Let all pretenders to the throne witness the way the House of Aristides deals with the dishonourable!

I think there needs to be a harsh sanction for getting your 'character' killed, otherwise it is too easy to rack up renown by taking the field.Aristides wrote:I think being thrown out of the whole campaign is perhaps too harsh a penalty.

I think that remaining games against that faction in that season should be played out. After all, there is no reason why others should be denied their chance for glory!
P.S. I am liking the trash talking between factions

To the Pompous araogant Roman dog Astrides.
We are well aware of your liking for war and will take up your challange, but at a time that suits us. To say we dealt with your Herald harshly is an understatment. We could well have flayed the swine and sent his skin to you, as a reminder of our non compliance. We have hid eyes in a jar and our sorcerer will use them against you. Your days are numbered Roman

Re: To Tame a Land
It was a near run thing! The Roman delaying force on the right was rapidly swamped by the Khazar cavalry and light troops. At the same time the mounted Byzantine strike force on the left flank looked to have the beating of the Turks. Charge after charge slammed home but despite being severely outnumbered the Khazar armoured horse proved truly stubborn, prefering a glorious death to fleeing the field.
This delay meant the Turkish left swept around, threatening the Roman rear and for a time things looked grim for the Empire. The battle became a swirling brawl, but the loss of their commander and the looting of their camp proved too much for the Khazars who finally fled the field, leaving a battered and bloody, but proud, Greek army as victor.
In truth, the Emperor - who took the field - now believes the Khazars would make better allies than foes and has sent a diplomatic mission to negotiate with the Kurgan.
Aristides' Byzantines (38 BGs) vs. Turk1964's Khazars (37).
250 - (34 x 13 / 2 = 221) (-50 camp, + 50 TtheF, + 25 enemy field commander) = +54
250 - (41 x 14 / 2 = 287) (-50 camp) = -87
Keyth, could you please check the maths, as I'm not convinced I truly get it.
Also this might look like a biased view because of this result, but it's not, and you did say all feedback is good: I'm wondering whether winning the battle shouldn't be worth something itself. If a player wins by 1 BP, it's still a win - after all, once the opponent's army's BP level is reached, that's the straw that breaks its back and the rest flee. As its stands now a player who wins by 1 BP will, all other things being equal, only score 10 to 15 renown more than the loser, which maybe is a bit odd in the context of a campaign. I guess it's early days...

Re: To Tame a Land
Thats ok I think you have figured it out correctly but lets see what Keyth has to say
Re: To Tame a Land
Aristides, ever heard of a Pyrrhic Victory? You might win but still lose.
Re: To Tame a Land
Your numbers are spot on - I shall post a leader board in a few minutes. Tiavals has got it right about my thoughts for scoring, winning is its own reward - your renown will be higher because you have lost fewer men. The trick is not to lose commanders, camps, etc. and *especially* not to get that Inspired commander killed, speaking from personal experience
