Re: The Byzantine World Part 2: 5th Century
NikiforosFokas(Jews) 94% beat Ulysisgrunt(Romans) 100%.
A game which i won but i do not take any pride of the win. My medium infantry army had to relied on the forest of the map. It was a guerrila hide and seek. the superior byzantine cavarly army had to fight most of their fights on the woods while many LF of my army get firing on them. Even though Danny was (as the score shows) very close to the victory. Thanks Danny and good luck to the rest of your games.

I would like to complement Nick on his excellent and historical use of the terrain.
The key was the loss of my camp which I failed to defend with even one light horse!

What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Re: The Byzantine World Part 2: 5th Century
I'm slightly embarrassed to publish another result.
Edmund_Blackadder's Vandals (7/29) 24% defeated IMC's Romans (27/25) 100%
By rights Ian should have won. We both expected he Romans to win, so the Vandals started by shamefully heading for the woods. The Roman cavalry chased after them to cut them off when the Vandal's cavalry ally jumped them. Yes, I had a slight numerical advantage, but the Romans were better armoured so we both expected it to be close. The dice, however, had other ideas, showering the Romans with an exciting array of double drops, while the barbarians apparently didn't know the meaning of fear. A Roman domino effect set in and with no break off in cavalry fights, there was nothing the Roman horsemen could do except die before the infantry could arrive in support. I'd have been pleased with a draw and did not deserve the scoreline that resulted.

Re: The Byzantine World Part 2: 5th Century
We reached a conclusion between the Goths of IMC and the Byzants of Ulysisgrunt.
A very close affair. The Byzants of Mr U took a commanding lead. However, the Goths clawed their way back to win Goths 26/28 v Byzants 26/22
Thanks for the game. Best of luck in the rest of the competition.
Ian

Another result to report:
Edmund_Blackadder's Samaritans (38/55) 69% defeated NikiforosFokas's Romans (35/26) 100%
It was a close game with the heavily outnumbered Romans almost breaking through the Samaritan centre but succumbing on the flanks.
Thanks for a good game Kostas and for organising the competition

Dear Kilroy, Batesmotel, IMC, Ulysisgrunt;
I am sorry I am so slow, but I am listing challenges for all of you, me as the Byzzies, you as your army.
Password for all battles is slow.
I've been busy, but that's no excuse. I will try to get caught up.

Re: The Byzantine World Part 2: 5th Century
To report the Byzants were met by the Heruls on the hills outside Constantinople. Both favoured cavalry and they charged headlong. As can be imagined it was quick and bloody. The Heruls gained the upperhand and, with the dice gods on their side, won through. The score doesn't really reflect the combats.
Byzants 26/20 Heruls 9/22
Thanks for teh game Jim. Best of luk v the others. IMC

Re: The Byzantine World Part 2: 5th Century
Allendeuce's Byzantines (18/20) defeated Kilroy's Vandals (29/29), 90% t0 100% in another really close game that could have gone either way, and in one more turn probably would have turned the other way.
Great game, Kilroy!
