MikeMarchant's Sarmatians 7/40 (18%) defeat Okie's Thracians 60/60 (100%)

A tough game for Okie where his MF army was distributed around the field in cover to avoid the deadly Sarmatian lancers. This gave the Sarmatians the initiative, allowing them to pick of the small pockets of Thracians one after the other until there was little left.

Bad luck, Okie. Thanks for the game.

Best Wishes

Same-same ... but different

Post by Londo »

Londo (EA Persians) 6/49 defeated The Grey Mouser (Skythians) 73/65

My last game was against Chris (batesmotel) who took Skythians on a map with steep hills on one side, forest on the other, and a clear patch in the middle. My Later Gatae were soundly defeated.

In this game, my opponent chose terrain, and I found myself on the same side of the same map, fighting Skythians again!

But this time I had Persians, and it was a perfect matchup for them, with better armour and troop quality, and formidable archery to shoot up the unprotected Skythian horse archers.

You thrashed me good there! I forgot just how crappy protected hoplites are and had way to high hopes for them!

Batesmotel (2) vs Iandavidsmith (2)

Awaiting an opponent with lives remaining in brackets:

My Macedonians were able to concentrate against IDS left flank while he tried to shift troops to meet my attack. Thanks for the game.

Jonathan4290 (Lydians) 29/50 defeats Hidde (Hellenistic Achaian) 51/51

The Lydian cavalry on the extreme left and right wings as able to ride around in circles threatening/pinning Hellenistic MF OS. The two infantry lines marched and countermarched on each other with Lydian armoured OS facing down Hellenistic pikes. How did either side gain an advantage? The initial Lydian attack on the Hellenistic left wing went poorly but some reinforcements and a few lucky rolls gained the Lydians the key hill here. This allowed the Lydian cavalry to hit the Hellenistic pikes in rear on both sides just as the two infantry lines engaged.

I did my part taking down one of Hidde's armies. Your turn!
