Game Unplayable due to Heavy Flickering
When i launch the game the screen starts to flicker rapidly and it is impossible to play. I have installed to the default locations and am using windows 7 64 bit.
Also on the loading screen, the Register, Cancel buttons are inside the launcher window but the ok Button is outside of it.
I am using a Radeon 5870 graphics card

Unfortunately we don't have an identical system to test on right now.
When you say it flickers, is it flickering between black and the correct display, or some other kind of flickering?
Do you know whether any other games or applications you use are OpenGL?
Also, what is your screen resolution?
Thanks

sorry for being a tech neanderthal but my wifes machine and I have a hate hate relationship, my machine is newer faster and I find it easier to get around, don't have the slightest idea where any of those settings could be found on this thing. tried going through control panel didn't see any mention of any opengl settings but I know I have found them on my own machine before. Mine will be back tomorrow and then I can get along flicker free again.

Right click on the desktop, select Properties, then Settings, then the Advanced button. There is usually a tab specifically for the video card and in there you would look for OpenGL settings.
Sometimes you might also see an ATI app in the system tray (bottom right) or on the menu when you right click on the desktop. Sadly there is no consistent approach!
Cheers
Pip

scottyboy,
Firstly, if you haven't already, can you get the latest ATI Catalyst drivers from:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
(At the time of writing, 9.12 was the latest 64-bit Windows 7 driver.)
Once you have that installed, if it still flickers, can I suggest changing your "Wait for Vertical Refresh" setting (also known as vsync).
Please open up the Catalyst Control Center (as Pip says, how this is done can vary.)
Then click the "+" next to "3D", then click "All Settings", then scroll down to "Wait for Vertical Refresh". If "Wait for Vertical Refresh" is on, try turning it off. If it's off, try turning it on.
(If changing this setting doesn't help, then please just put it back to whatever it was before.)

Have you changed the refresh rate on your monitor?scottyboy wrote:Hi Eric
Downloaded latest drivers etc and tried all settings with the vsync.
Sadly the screen is still flickering madly.
Not sure what to do next, can only bare to look at screen for a second or two before flickering goes for me lol

For any with an issue can you try the following command.
1) Load the game to the main menu
2) Press the ` key to the left of the 1 on the keyboard.
3) A window appears for a command line.
4) enter show-fps 1 as a command (show-fps 0 to turn off after this test)
5) At any point you get flicker report back to us the page you are looking at and the typical 3 values that probably keep changing to the top left of the screen.
6) Can you please report your screen model as well as your video card and ideally the screen resolution you have your monitor on and the refresh rate you have the monitor set at.
These values may help us to detect the problem.
Thanks
Keith

I'm having the flicker problem as well. I have upgraded to two Ati 5870 cards.
Field of Glory ran fine on my previous NVIDIA 280 card. I have tested the new card on about 15 other games, and this is the only one that gets the shakes. I've tryed all the fixes suggested,no help! This seems to be related to the new video card. I hope you find a fix as I love the game! Thank you.
