Break Point Question/Suggestion
Does it seem to anyone else the DAG games end prematurely. I've yet to be beaten by the AI in a DAG so thats not my issue.
But it seems to me that the game all too often ends just as the main lines of battle are coming to grips with each other.
It seems to me that the Natural attrition of lights is putting too heavy a BP burden on both sides;
I strongly suggest that skirmish troops like slingers, Javelins, most Archers, should only count 1/2 for BP purposes.
So that one or both armies don't run out of BP before the main forces even trade blows.
Your thoughts. BB.

Excellent observation. I've often shared the same preference to see the BP adjusted for extended playing time. An alternate feature that could be offered in this regard would be a "What If?" continuation option that would kick in after the default BP end limit has been reached.

Ty for the Reply Z. I very like the continuation option,
I have seen that in some Cyber chess games that allow the player to continue after the AI resigns,
to work on ones end game technique. I think the Original Starcraft allowed that as well if I remember right.

Yes, indeed!
I think varying the number of break points by the importance of a unit would be a huge improvement. Making light units count for half would be a big step in that direction.

What if the BP value of a unit was proportional to its cost?

The original Frederick the Great games (Dragoon, Horse & Musket, etc.) that I played years ago had that extended play option too.Blackbirdx61 wrote:Ty for the Reply Z. I very like the continuation option,

Re: Break Point Question/Suggestion
I get around that by giving both sides a number of wagons/carts to represent camps. I stick them off in the corners of the map so that they don't get in the way of the game, and they boost the unit count sufficiently so that an army really has to be thoroughly wrecked before the game ends.

+1 Seems like a reasonable work around for now, still would like to see some scoring adjustment to BPs in the future.
