Plaid (axis) vs Vokt (allies) GS 3.0 beta AAR
Looks like this forum misses some AAR using 3.0 beta version. I think some people might be interested how 3.0 works, and this AAR will give you an idea.
I know there is Ronnie's AAR (by the way excellent made and fun to read), but it is vs AI, and since AI never does number of things, it will not provide complete image of what 3.0 is about.
Recently we with Victor finished one beta game, and it ended with minor allied victory. Now we decided to switch sides and give it an AAR go.
I believe, in older days (GS 2.0 or 2.1 probably) we played 2 more games vs each other and both ended as draws.
One more time I remind you that it is beta version and some features might not work as intended. Couple of bugs are already found and reported to GS team, who are now working on fix, another ones are just about to be detected.

I decided to pick Poland and Scandinavia as targets for my 1939 campaign, while going for sietzkrieg in the west.
According to the plans Poland was DoWed and invaded with all availiable forces.
I got quite good combat results apart from one, but critical - polish corps south of Danzig refused to retreat after fighter + infantry corps attacks. Official statistics says that it does retreat 88% of the time. My experience says this corps retreats maybe in 1 games of 3.
End result of it was that germans were able to attack Warsaw only with one panzer korps (and it didn't score good results).
Still we are in perfectly OK position to force polish surrender next turn, as no troops were railed to other fronts.
Meanwhile 2 infantry corps from western Germany march to Wilhelmshaven and prepare to sail to Norway next turn.
Kriegsmarine uboats are on the way to block Norway ports from british transports.
Starting PPs were spent on 1 air lab (dog fight) and paratrooper divison - quite standard choice.

After some polish counterattacks german tanks enter Warsaw and campaign here is closed.
Total casualties in Poland : 10 INF steps, 2 ARM steps, 4 MECH, 1 TAC and 1 FTR.
Last turn I parked my Uboat Flotilla 2 (basically heading to Norway) near shore of Scotland and didn't put it on sentry - pretty sure that if anything runs into it, it will be capital ship. British battleship squadron was ambushed here with 3:2 result.
Looking at RN positioning I don't think they will interfere at Norway. Probably uboat ambush will make them cautious and this ships will stay at bases - it is just what we need right now!
German infantry is now ready to land in Norway next turn. PzGr corps and another infantry are ready to secure Denmark.

This turn I got favourable weather (fair both in North and Central Europe), so Weserubung was launched without second thought.
Denmark was captured easily, as it should be. PzGr corps entered Kopenhagen, while infantry marched forward to allow Luftwaffe elements to rebase.
Now we have reasonable air cover in case RN sub shows. TAC is in range to attack Oslo, which is also useful just in case.
Full scale RN intervention considered unlikely - conservative players like both of us rarely do so .

With help of tactical bomber, based in Denmark, we secure Oslo.

I agree with your points here, but Scandinavian Blitz is quite reliable strategy. Chances for bad weather in both central and northern weather zones in October are slight, and uboats shield Bergen hardor from allied transports.
If I play vs allied player who is likely to interfere there, I will probably send one transport to Bergen instead of Oslo (or just will not invade Norway at all).

Probably I will skip next few turns, as nothing going to happen during sitzkrieg campaign.
This turn 2 german corps were shipped from Norway. Note, that I was able to load them, even though Oslo port is destroyed.
Looks like a bug, but it is really old one (check old Ronnie's AAR for example - viewtopic.php?f=78&t=20355&start=40 - on turn 17 he takes Oslo, and on turn 18 his transports are in german ports). Probably ports supposed to work this way, I don't know exactly.

Aren't you afraid that a partisan unit will spawn in Oslo?

Norway does not spawn partisans at all.

Oh. You learn sth new every day. Why is that? I admit that I don't know much about Norwegian resistance, except their operations against heavy water plant.

This turn my UF1 occasionally ran right into 12 PP convoy. Basically I will not go for so small convoy, when it is escorted, but now in 3.0 it is different story
-if I don't attack, Victor can still detect and hit my sub, if he does ASW search with his DD, so I might take same damage without hitting convoy at all
-when DD attacks my sub, it can evade, avoiding damage completely.
Considering both of this points, UF1 and 3 were ordered to sink convoy completely and did it.
Fighter build was ordered this turn.

Didn't post anything for few turns, as nothing happened at all.
Only noteable events were lab builds (1st general and 2nd air for Germany ; 1st inf for Italy); purchasing 4th panzer korps for Germany on turn 7 and recruiting Dietrich (1 0 4) at turn 10.
But now weather goes fair and turn going to be eventful.
Just look how flashy Case Yellow is now:
Initial Low Countries OOB was changed a bit , aswell as map in this area
Just in case you have trouble reading orange numbers from this picture (as do I) - strength of both dutch garrisons is 3, corps - 5. Belgians have full strength garrison in Liege, other two are 5 steps and infantry in Brusseles is 7.
I think now Low Countries scenario is slightly harder for Axis, as if you get bad rolls at Liege (and you can, as half of attacks are cross-river) you might stuck here. You will still most likely force surrender of Belgium, but it will take effort from armoured troops (who should be advancing into France) and tactical bombers (who respectively better should rebase closer to french defenses).
Here its not the case - used limited air and heavy unit support 2 TACs (Liege and Brusseles), SAC (belgian garrison in the field), 1 FTR (Liege again) and panzer to finish off 1 step Hague defenders. It was air units from forward air bases, so they didn't need rebasing. Ones from rear airfields were not used - they were succesfully rebased closer to the front instead.
I had an opportunity to attack Liege right now with 2 armour (or armour and mech), but decided not to do so, as it looks pointless. Why attack fresh unit, if it gets morale penalty next turn?

German armoured troops capture Lille and Lorrein, destroying 4 french garrisons, badly damaging another one and corps in Reims (6 steps, but effectiveness close to 0).
I don't fear allied counterattacks now, as they are badly hit by morale penalty, so panzers can advance forward bravely.
Even if some overagressive allied player (and I am sure Victor is not one) will attempt counterattack here, it will purely favour axis.

Apr 8th the first fair turn in 1940 ? This is a little bad luck for a sitz strategy Axis player .
