veterans and free cmt

Post by deadtorius »

Just wondering about veteran troops and their first CMT being free. I thought that applied to all CMTs but Blathergut thinks it only applies to CMTs that take place outside 6 MU, the tests that don't require a die roll.
So is it all CMTs or only the ones you don't have to roll for? It would make veteran cavalry much better than V1.

Blathergut is right, it is only free when outside of 6". You get three dice and pay a PIP inside 6"

I may have posted this elsewhere, but I think that making your cavalry veteran is more attractive than it was in v1, not only with the free 2nd moves beyond 6MU, but there are a couple of crucial things mounted have to test for that were largely 'free' in v1:

- wanting to pull back a half move when within 6 of enemy (no 'skirmish' formation for cav in v2, plus you need to take a CT at the end of such pull back)
- Shock and Guard Cav need a CMT to charge when spent
- All intercepts now require a CMT

Thanks for the replies. Hard to unlearn V1 all the time.
