V2 Redoubts.

Post by pugsville »

some questions and queries.

there is no size. hold s1 hit of any size.

there is no advantage for a art attach inside/ (unlike buildings)

there is no occupying there is only defending (saying the movements the same as buildings begs the question)

when firing from a redoubt at umlibered artillery can be hit on a 5? what the table says now.

there is no advantage for heavy art firing at a redoubt?

Correct

Good pick up. We gave buildings back the benefit of artillery attachments at the last minute and should have applied this to redoubts. We'll fix that.

Actually the intent is that there is occupying and defending. This is implied in the statement that movements is treated exactly the same as buildings. However, I can see that this needs to be spelled out more clearly.

Again, fair points. Artillery should be hit on 6s, and as it should mimic buildings, heavy artillery should be hitting on 5s.

We'll get there eventually with these redoubts...

Further thoughts on redoubts, if firing out of redoubts is going to be like firing from Buildings, what about the consistency on artillery attachments, are artillery units WITH artillery attachments going get a bonus like infantry units? Then the different between small + attachment v large artillery unit makes not much sense. So only infantry units with attachments get a bonus dice for firing from redoubts but not artillery?

Whichever, but please make the wording clear.

"Again, fair points. Artillery should be hit on 6s, and as it should mimic buildings, heavy artillery should be hitting on 5s. "

That would mean a heavy battery inside a redoubt would shoot out hitting on a 6 while a heavy battery shooting in would hit on a 5. I would think being in a redoubt should give you an advantage in an artillery duel versus a battery in the open?
I quite like the way the current rules work, mostly for the simplicity.

Their is no mention of shooting arcs for redoubts that i can find. Reading the rules they sorts say you shoot 360 degrees like buildings.

Can/How do artillery move in and out of Redoubts, isn't mentioned.

Original rules had firing arc. Did that get deleted?

This is an ommison which we'll put back in. Redoubts have the same 180 degree arc as v1. Thanks for the pick up Pug.
