It should be clear as Heavy cavalry. The name of the unit and then how they are rated are two different things. You are right, need to make sure its clear.
On that it should be clear that the 'Shock Cavalry' vs Infantry & Light Cavalry get only the +1/-1 dice benefit and not the +1 dice for 'Heavy Cavalry'. 'Heavy Cavalry' is a troop type and "Shock" is a capability for some 'Heavy Cavalry'. So it is possible to read the rules that 'Shock Heavy Cavalry' get the +1/-1 dice benefit as 'Shock' cavalry and the + 1 dice benefit as 'Heavy Cavalry'.

I suggest it should read either 'Other Heavy Cavalry' or 'Non-Shock Heavy Cavalry' for the +1 dice benefit.
