You can be first reserve Kondi, just in case someone drops out?kondi754 wrote:oh, I see that I'm late ...
I've been thinking about it for too long
ok, maybe someone wants a demanding sparing partner?
Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
Good luck to all! Unfortunately, I can't record myself playing. I'll try to save the replays and put them here with some narrative though I've never done an AAR so don't expect anything fabulous!
Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
I guess uploading the replays means that somebody at Slitherine can download them and then do some commentary and finally put them on youtube.13obo wrote:Good luck to all! I even think replays work best because they are a) less hassle for the players and b) can be paused, accelerated and so on and thus allow a commentator to skip through slow parts. (Yes, you can do that with a video file, too. But I think it is more hassle to edit...)
Also, you can prewatch them and maybe select the most dramatic matches for commenting. I guess it is not interesting if someones wins too easily.

That's an interesting idea!kondi754 wrote: maybe someone wants a demanding sparing partner?
Where are you from? I mean, what's your timezone? Mine is UTC +02:00 (Ukraine).
Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
May I just request from the tournament organisers that, since the tournament will be direct elimination with no prior knowledge of the maps (the maps are going to be new we are told), we get clear explanation of the conditions for both sides winning prior to the round starting?
I only request this because I've had a weird experience yesterday on a map called "1v1 Peninsula Battle" where the British defend a peninsula from a Japanese invasion. I was playing the British and won on turn 3, because I captured all neutral villages before the Japanese player could land properly and organise their attack. It was a win that came from (what I believe was) the Japanese player's unawareness of the conditions for the British to achieve victory, and mine as well. Despite capturing all coastal villages being a secondary objective for me, it gave me a victory, which came as a shock when I ended my turn, and was in no fault of the Japanese player who probably was not aware that I would win as well.
So for the sake of transparency and avoidance of people complaining they weren't aware of the win conditions, please post any "quirks" of the maps beforehand!
Thank you and best of luck to all!

Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
Any ties will be resolved on 1) number of primaries held, 2) number of secondaries held and 3) remaining resources and/or units lost.
Each scenario is of course unique regarding victory cinditions, but almost all are symmetrical and relatively easy to judge.
There will be mirror/paired games so players will experience both sides.
Note that if a player concedes defeat in one game it will automatically defeast the mirrored game as well.
Hope this helps.

Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
Okay Eric thanks. When is the start date and will there be a dedicated forum page for the tourny?

Thank you, Erik. It most certainly does help!Erik2 wrote:Any ties will be resolved on 1) number of primaries held, 2) number of secondaries held and 3) remaining resources and/or units lost.

If I may make another minute request- could we please restrict the usage of certain units, as they are clearly imbalanced like the artillery version of the SU-152? Costs only 50 RP and 3 CP.
Haven't played that much multiplayer yet, so not sure if there are others.

Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
lol yu have to be kidding? it is a game bud/ yu just dont go in and change units/ LMAO
Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
The incorrect SU-152 cost in artillery mode in both RP/CP is a known issue as reported here:

I'm not sure why you interpreted my post as a request for changing units, which cannot be done anyway in multiplayer as far as I know. I requested that people do not use such obviously bugged units since they will give unfair advantage.

Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
I’m sure the tournament will be played using 5.2.5 or later.
And that any glaring unit issues that may unbalance a game will be fixed.

Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
moerator/ what is the start date and will there be a notification as to who we have to play or will it go auto? Start date?
Re: Order of Battle: Join the first Slitherine Tournament!
Thanks, Erik! Hopefully it is 5.2.5 indeed. Had no idea it's close to finishing the testing.Erik2 wrote:I’m sure the tournament will be played using 5.2.5 or later.

The start date is announced together with the tournament in the first post- February 12. And judging by how PzC tournaments have been organised, my guess is very soon we'll get an announcement of the pairs of participants that will face each other.Scotty123 wrote:moerator/ what is the start date and will there be a notification as to who we have to play or will it go auto?
