Re: Venta Belgarum tournament V3, 2018 24th 25th february
I'd do my usual guess at what armies people are using, but I already know Ruddocks
David Putt loves Chinese
Pete has been threatening to use Thracians, but I reckon he'll use pike +Arty
Bannister will pick his army when all the rest are in
Phil of Jelly will pick something ridiculous, or something good ridiculously
Mr Putt will have polluted the minds of Plymouth. More Chinese
Except Paul who will have a decent army, sea people
Oxford will be as random as usual, Mr Lynda will have Sea people if allowed
As for MAWS- Pwobabwy Bwoody Womans and Chinese

They had already committed to Burton, but if the tournaments had been different weeks at least two of us would have entered.petedalby wrote:So what happened to the Reigate contingent?

You could have left Dave's off, assuming the devil hasn't returned his soul as of no use he will probably dice his way to victory with anything.
Sea Peoples were considered by me , would have meant some painting so I've gone a little left field, nothing new there
Mr Lynda

Yes we entered Burton early as Mr Murton is organised. Perhaps next year we can do both.notrum wrote:They had already committed to Burton, but if the tournaments had been different weeks at least two of us would have entered.petedalby wrote:So what happened to the Reigate contingent?

I'm surprised - more Seleucids than Han.

It's probably due to the chariots they can have. My money is on Etruscan.

Looked at Etruscan. More superior armoured offensive spear than anybody else. 30 bases IIRC. Then it falls over

If the cavalry could have dismounted and it had some decent MF it would have been great

Results of Belgarum as follows:
Many thanks to all my opponents - four good games and very enjoyable under v3. The special rules had everybody frantically looking through rulebooks attempting to work out how scythed chariots worked....
Unfortunatly Pete had to drop out half way through - hope everything is OK.

Just goes to prove if your name isn't Dave your chances are much reduced
Chariots were fun, best was going straight through Steves disrupted pike block, mind you the one that followed up and charged the flank of the adjacent one was a complete failure.
Good weekend, highly recomend going next year
