Bayfog IX 2017 Results
One of the most amazing weekends of the last 50 years. An unfancied underdog managed to beat the favourites in a stunning victory. But that’s enough about Huddersfield Town’s victory over Manchester United.
The 9th Bayfog was almost as dramatic. Unfancied Scot George Dick stomped to a runaway victory with his Khmer elephant steamrollers. With a whopping 9 battle groups of elephants, George won three battles and held favourite Andy Ellis’ Late Macedonian pike phalanx to a deserved draw.
Other weekend highlights include young Alex Baroni achieving second place with Selucids despite being partnered by his Dad Marco. The future of wargaming rests soley in Alex’s hands as virtually all the other competitors were over 50 !
Bob Amey made a late charge from 9th place with his Macedonians to snatch 3rd place. The competition was so close going into the last round that 11 of the 16 entrants had a chance of a podium finish.
Paul Dawson in second place going into the last round could have taken the title but lost the grand final against George in the dice fest that is elephant on elephant action, and so tumbled down to 9th.
Special thanks go to all the participants who helped make it such a good relaxed weekend. This includes the large Durham contingent which managed to fill the bottom 7 places!
Bob Middlemist deserves special praise for his continued participation despite his lack of battlefield success… he is a winner in all other departments though especially in the washing up arena.
Fun fact of the weekend was that Chris Proudfoot managed to accumulate more points on his driving licence on Sunday morning that he achieved on the wargames table!

Paul,
I have paid in cash at the venue, just before you left to the football.. I know your team won, but hey you did have my lucky £30 (£20 English and a new £10 English note), that was not free beer money for the game
