Roll Call 2017

Post by madaxeman »

Roll Call 2017 will take place at our usual venue in Cranfield over the weekend of 8/9 April 2017.

This year we will be offering 11 different competitions including FOUR "Big Boys Toys" Ancients and Renaissance "big battle" events in DBMM, FoGAM, FoGR and L'Art de la Guerre. We will also be offering Mortem et Gloriam at Roll Call for the first time ever.

Our venue for Roll Call is the same, meaning that we are again likely to sell out for this year's event.

Full details and an online booking form for Roll Call 2017 is now available on the BHGS website http://www.bhgs.org.uk/roll-call.html

Hi Paul - yes it is. I took a very quick straw poll at Derby and as this theme/period hasn't been played anywhere else - and players seemed to like it - I thought we'd go for it again. Hope that's okay.

I can see you have written something Dave but the letters are all jumbled up and the sentences just come across as 'noise'.

Roll Call 2017 is coming ....

http://www.bhgs.org.uk/roll-call.html

April 8th & 9, 2017
The 2017 event will feature a huge range of historical competitions across all of these periods and rulesets:
Bolt Action
FoG:AM 15mm
FoG:AM 25mm
FoG:R 15mm
FoG:R 25mm
DBMM 15mm
DBMM 25mm
L'Art de la Guerre 15mm
L'Art de la Guerre 25mm
Mortem et Gloriam 15mm
SAGA
For full details on the rules and lists being used in all of these periods please visit the Roll Call 2017 web page on the BHGS website http://www.bhgs.org.uk/roll-call.html

As usual, the venue capacity is 144 players and with around 60 players signed up as of today we fully expect to be operating a waiting list again in 2017. Our aim is to try to make sure that at least 6 places are kept open in all periods, but in the past some events have failed to make these numbers and been withdrawn so if you and your clubmates can please try to book early that will help us juggle numbers and ensure that your preferred period or rules system does take place.

We're also making Roll Call the "official" 2017 BHGS Big Boys Toys event of the year, with 25mm competitions in DBMM, FoG:AM, FoG:R and L'Art de la Guerre so, if you do fancy getting the big toys out next April please support these spectacular periods at Roll Call 2017.

For further details please visit the Roll Call pages on the BHGS website - and if you think that you may already have booked and forgotten (yes, this does happen. Every year...) we've even published a current list of runners and riders (pre-Warfare) so you can check online who's already going - and if one of them is you!

As usual, juniors (Under 18) will get discounted entry by using the code BHGSUNDER18 when booking into any period.

We hope to see you at Roll Call 2017!

DBMM: 3 + 1 (15mm + 25mm)

We're at 89 players as of this morning. Currently we have 5 periods which have yet to make the minimum threshold of 6, so working on the assumption that we hold open 6 places for each of these 5 periods that leaves just less than 40 places up for grabs for the other periods.

Currently signed up FoGAM players are:

Order Date First Name Surname Ticket Type Club
2016-10-19 Peter Dalby 15mm FoG AM
2016-10-24 Andrew Ellis 15mm FoG AM Impalers

Folks

We are now at 111 overall tickets sold for Roll Call 2017 out of a venue capacity of 146, and currently we have 20 15mm FoGAM registrations, and Dino playing with himself in 25mm.

With only 35 more places left up for grabs, and with bookings running at a rate of almost 20/week since the beginning of December there is now a real possibility that we will be looking at close to a sellout by the end of the year - which would then be the point at which the viability of FoGAM 25mm would need to be reviewed if we have not reached at least 6 bookings by then.

So, if you would like to play FoAM 25mm at Roll Call next year, please sign up soon!

Dino will be very welcome to join us in the 15mm pool if he wants to.

Looks like a good turnout across several periods.

We've now only got around a dozen places left across the entire competition, but as of today FoGAM 25mm is 3 players short of the 6 required to make this particular period viable.

Roll Call is our main 25mm event each year, and we already have over 30 players registered across the other 25mm 'big battle' competitions so it would be great to see 25mm FoGAM in that list again too.

We'll be holding places open to allow 25mm FoGAM to get up to the viable numbers for as long as we can, but if the waiting list for other periods gets a bit too long we may struggle to keep AM 25mm open. So, if you are thinking of coming along - or are already playing 15mm and fancy swapping - please sign up soon using the following link

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/roll-cal ... 8242488042

(ps - the players who have signed up so far are Dino Monticoli, Ade Ball and Martyn Brawn)

Here you go:

* 900 AP on 6 x 4 tables.
* Date Range 629AD to 1291AD
* Armies & Allies must be from one of the following lists:

Legions Triumphant
* Sassanid Persian

Decline & Fall
* Maurikian Byzantine
* Christian Nubian
* Western Turkish
* Arab Conquest
* Thematic Byzantine
* Umayyad Arab
* Abbasid Arab
* Early North African Dynasties
* Khurasanian Dynasties
* Bedouin Dynasties
* Dailami Dynasties
* Kurdish Allies
* Bagratid Armenian Allies
* Ghaznavid
* Nikephorian Byzantine

Wolves From The Sea
* Merovingian Frankish
* Astur-Leonese
* Andalusian
* Early Navarrese

Swords & Scimitars
* Any List

Oath Of Fealty
* Feudal Catalan & Early Crown of Aragon
* Taifa Andalusian
* Feudal Navaresse & Aragonese
* Feudal Castilian, Leonese or Portugese
* Fanatic Berber
* Italo-Norman
* Later Sicilian
* Early Granadine

Lost Scrolls
* Beja, Nile Valley Blemmye or Early Nobatae
* Tuareg

Eternal Empire
* Ghurid Afghan

Special Competition Rule - No Heavily Armoured Knights

Any Heavily Armoured Knights must be fielded and paid for as Armoured Knights.

eg.- an Undrilled, Superior, Heavily Armoured Knight base with Lance and Sword which normally costs 23 points will be fielded as an Undrilled Superior Armoured Knight base with Lance and Sword costing 20 points. If such troops are dismounted they are deployed as Armoured, Heavy Foot - Offensive Spearmen.

This is to increase the number of viable armies in the theme and reflects the heavier armour of Ghilman & Mamluks in the later part of this period.

Not sure which armies were missed though? I think Bob Amey asked about the Tang but I preferred to avoid the XB Sword armoured cavalry killers.
