No decisions have been made. But discussion centers around Salamanca Spain.

Tournament is going to be held in Salamanca, 4th - 6th august.

Friday - Sunday. Would people prefer five or six games? Only one game is possible on the Friday, which would make Saturday as per Britcon.

Could I have your thoughts please?

Two games on Saturday. One of the big attractions is socialising on the Saturday evening.

Traditionally the worlds have always been 6 games. It would be a shame if we moved away from that format.

I agree with that sentiment Pete. Turns out the venue is available all day Friday so we could do the standard six games at two games per day.

Be good to hear everybody's opinion though. I'll confirm early January.

Definitely 2 games a day ,finishing late on Saturday makes everything a rush and late socialising even if we are in the hotel venue

Agree 6 games if its 2 on Friday, and just 2 on Saturday.

Thanks for the responses.

There is an arranged lunch as part of the deal on Saturday and sunday, but this is only available between 3-4 pm.

On the Saturday would you prefer to start later (11am) and finish later (7:30 pm) to get this meal, or more "standard" times to allow, erm, socialising on the Saturday.

More sensible times for games please. Who has lunch at 3 pm?

2 types of people:

- gamers who are lucky enough to be able to piggy-back their World event on the back of another, much larger gaming tournament (the ETC) after the ETC have done all the planning, organising, logistics and venue selection....including arranging for the lunchtime of their own several hundreds of players to be at more normal times...already.
- Spanish people (although to be fair, they may well start earlier..but are often still going by then)!

The other option is to play to a normal schedule, start the afternoon game shortly after the morning one ends and call "Dice down" at 3pm to have a 1-hour "time out", restarting the game clock again at 4pm. I've done that for events at Central London before and it's worked fine.

You could always try starting from somewhere else...?

(It's also the venue for the ETC. So more Wargamers, from more countries, will be making there way to thus same venue at this same time than at any previous Worlds - or IWF- event ever. Flight to Madrid, one of the most connected airports in Europe, then a car hire or get a bus. It's a little over 2 hours drive from Madrid, and with an early finish on Sunday it's probably still only 1 day off work if you want to do it in as little time as possible)

The ETC is a huge international team event for FoW, WH40k, WH, Warmahordes and probably other things the cool young things (who aren't old fogies like us) play. It's been running for years in a different host country each time and they take it quite seriously I believe.

Kinda like what we'd be like if the Botswanan Wargames Federation had a deciding say in how The Worlds was organised...
