Division B

XLegione - Galatians 280-63 BC defeated Morbio - Samnites 355-272 BC 58% - 27%

the field was not the best for samnites, narrow and open, the superior warbands in these condition are unstoppable.

Herode_2 - Kingdom of Soissons 461-486 AD defeats lydianed - Kappadokian 260 BC-17 AD : 46/16

The battle started late in the day, as Soissons crossed the map and moved towards the Kappadokians waiting for the attack on a good and wisely choosen defensive position. As Roman soldiers looked reluctant to attack uphill such an army, a few turns of mutual observation ensued, ended by a fierce charge of the Kappadokians. Despite their courage, gods eventually favoured Romans. Thanks to my opponent for the game, good luck & have fun for the next ones !
It was Turn 34 I think at 0-0 that the Kappadokians thought they would earn 0 points for a scoreless draw and may as well go big. They went for it, but as the troops are made out of wet kleenex, the Romans gave them a good slapping. The Kappadokians succesfully secured their 0 point target!

Division D

lydianed (Kappadokians) defeats Brenmusik (Slave Revolt) 61-36

The slaves took up position on three unlinked hills which allowed the Kappadokians to attack piecemeal. Again the Kappadokian infantry showed their typical fighting resolve and martial prowess by being soundly beaten by the slaves. Luckily, the Kappadokian cavalry know where they keep their weapons, were able to get into the enemy's rear and slowly dislodge the slave army hill by hill. Thanks for a good game.

Division A

harveylh - Romans 105-25 BC defeats Cunningcairn - Carthaginians (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC, 44-12

A wide open battlefield and the Carthaginians brought lots of horses all on the Roman right flank. A really nifty move by a LH cracked the Roman flank which by the last turn of the game had been opened wide. Fortunately for the Romans, they had largely won the battles on their left flank and the center. If the game had gone any longer it would have been much closer!

Also for Pete's statistics, this was our second map. We agreed the first map was very likely to create a draw. Our second map was nearly the complete opposite of the first map. Shows how much terrain can affect individual battles.

It's really a shocking win considering some of the whippings my motley crew has experienced this go around! Got some lucky outcomes on the warband charges and the cavalry rounded the flank to apply even more pressure. Thanks for the game Blobka.
