Sorry to lose and thanks for the battles we've fought. Hope whatever you're doing goes ok and I'll hopefully see you around again some time
In view of Martin's departure, I'm wondering what the best course of action is moving forwards. I could put out a call for a replacement player but given that we are potentially quite close to the end of the campaign I wonder whether it would be worth bringing in a new player now? I could target folks who have played in the campaign previously but it still might not be worth someone getting invested.
If we don't look for or find a replacement player, I reckon it would probably be best to start wrapping things up. We would almost be down to five players anyway; and with my capacity for continuing the game limited it might be a good stopping point. In that context, it might be nice to run one final turn, as a kind of farewell and to allow us to resolve any "unfinished business". But then calling an end at that point.
Thoughts as always are welcome.

I will follow the consensus of others on this. I will play out my part. Still, I've entered four divisions in the digital league so I wont be lacking for games to play. I realize that were I one with a top placing in territories i would likely feel different, so as i say, I will follow here. But let us make a collective decision quickly as how I would play this next turn would change depending on what we decide. Maybe we push back the order due time if we dont get input from others.
Martin, sorry to see you go.

Yeah, happy to delay until we've worked out what's going on.

I'm happy either way, and with the Digital League starting I won't be short of games. My view is that if we are thinking of wrapping this up then I'd prefer to do it now before I invest time and get attached to the Spanish armies.
But, as I say, I'm happy either way.

I'm in two minds. I wouldn't be unhappy with settling at this point honestly; we've had a good run, fought a lot of different battles, and I'm honestly not sure if pushing onwards to resolve things for the sake of resolving them is a good idea. On the other hand, the urge to conquer isn't entirely quenched in me. I'd like to hear from the others.

I'm more in favour of wrapping it up, honestly.

I'd be happy to continue the campaign but will abide by the majority decision.

I think I'm of a mind to wrap up actually. Especially if Nosy Rat is also looking in that direction, given the current state of affairs in the campaign.
Re: New FOGII (April 2018) Campaign Tournament (bbogensc)
I suspect that's also what would be best for me - while I can and would continue, I am increasingly anxious about work stuff so not carrying on is ultimately better for me.
I'm not sure if there's any interest in playing one last turn. If so, I'm happy to run it. Otherwise, it's been a pleasure playing with you all and I hope I'll have the chance to again. I would say thank you for the battles as well, but that really needs to be directed at those who have departed as most of you I've not actually played against in the context of this campaign!

I am good with shutting down as well. This campaign has been a blast and I would happily join another after the digital league is concluded. I thank all for the comradery and special thanks to those who have share with me insights into game play.

I am ok with stopping at this point. That said, I really want to hammer home that the campaign has done a huge amount to show just how much I didn't know about this game. It has been an eye-opener.
I have to say that a special toast has to go to Nosy Rat, who has completely changed how I view both the infantry and cavalry battle, particularly lancers. I am now much less likely to trust a wall of cheap infantry to hold back heavy lancers, and much more likely to choose a deep formation over a wide formation if outnumbered (after previously disparaging the value of any formation more than a few reserves thick).

Sounds to me like we are done.
Thanks all, I've had fun and the Spanish armies are sighing in relief after hearing how well I led the Syracusan hoplites!
