I also try to mod the mouse pointer, in order to makes it looks like a roman sword

It works almost but the problem I have, is that the sword appears in a big black square (the problem seems like the banners modding issue)

Any idea?

There are multiple versions of the .DDS format.

You need to save the texture as DXT3 (Explicit alpha)

You can do this with Paint.net (which is free) if your current graphics program does not support it.
