Tarentum
If I wanted to play as Tarentum, which army would be the most fitting? I can't decide between Apulian and Greek (Western).
Re: Tarentum
Campanian probably.
Re: Tarentum
western greek. Campanians were Italic tribe, Tarentians were Greeks.

Re: Tarentum
Does the Greek (Western) 280 BC - 49 BC army list have enough Light Javelin Horse in the army list to do a Tarentine army justice? Tarentine light horse were used as mercenaries by many armies, so I assume that they were available in some quantity.

I could be wrong but I though the term "tarentine" referred more to a style of light cavalry instead of denoting troops specifically from any given area. Kinda like how "tatar horse" in later Polish and Lithuanian were unlikely to be real tatars, or Napoleons "mamelukes" were not mamelukes.

You are right. I didn't know that, and always assumed that it was a geographic reference like Cretan Archers.TheGrayMouser wrote:w_michael wrote:Does the Greek (Western) 280 BC - 49 BC army list have enough Light Javelin Horse in the army list to do a Tarentine army justice? For time period of what currently is in this game, the Etruscans had already been assimilated into the Roman hive mind. As Hannibal found out when they failed to show any interest in supporting "the cause".Cumandante wrote:How about the Etruscans? Which army fits them?
In a pinch though, maybe a hoplite style army??

The Amorites were a much earlier timescale than the game covers.olin0111 wrote: amirite?

Clearly, there is only one interpretation of those comments: Immortal Fire confirmed! Release date imminent! This weekend 5th c. BCE hoplites will crush your later era armies!
