Other Artillery stuff - proposal
In addition to the specific proposal for Light Artillery we are proposing the following:
1. Artillery hitting mounted on a 5+
2. removed
3. Artillery can no longer shoot through friendly LF

Re: Other Artillery stuff - proposal
I would amend this to:
3. Artillery can no longer shoot through friendly LF
Other than that, I don't mine this as it still means that artillery can start pointing into the flank sectors, but mounted can avoid that if they choose.

No problem with 1 and 3; 1 makes targeting fast moving mounted less attractive so deals with the worst problem.
2 really hampers artillery and is a change too many for what is already a not an overly effective weapon im my experience.

Re: Other Artillery stuff - proposal
Happy with 1
Happy with 3 if it is friendly LF
Not happy with 2 as it means that your enemy can too easily avoid your artillery. Artillery in this period generally appeared to be able to site their guns on an appropriate target before the battle began and there was often a prolonged artillery bombardment before the main lines advanced. Deploying artillery towards the end at least replicates the first.

Think that is what I intended anyway - just need to check with "the team"

Re: Other Artillery stuff - proposal
Since these address different issues why do you regard them as an either/or option?1 or 3 - not both.

You are correct. Typo by me.

Re: Other Artillery stuff - proposal
Agree with 1 and 3 but not 2.
Deploying artillery early nails your overall deployment as it is the toughest unit in the army to shift even if it is deployed limbered. If you deploy early and the opponent deplys chear of a path of the guns, then that is an unhistorical outcome. Equally we have all seen where by using march moves units are able to dash across the line of fire of guns so stopping the guns firing.
Hitting on 5's and 6's for most targets reduces artillery's impact enough - I see no need to start dictating when the artillery is deployed.

I agree, 1 and 3 are sufficient.
