Light Artillery - proposal
The proposal is that Light Artillery can move in a divisional move with foot troops.

I'd still want increase range to 12, apart from that I agree.

Re: Light Artillery - proposal
I'm happy with the original proposal
Re: Light Artillery - proposal
Light artillery covers, what? Eighth cannon, six-pounders, Ming Rockets, Camel Guns... I guess it all begs the question, what was the historical effective range of those things?Akbar wrote:I'd still want increase range to 12, apart from that I agree.
Re: Light Artillery - proposal
It depends on what gun and what kind of ammunition they used. But most sources I've checked cite ranges about 200 meters, so it might be that 8" is not too far off after all. Just seems a bit underwhelming when playing 28mm scale I suppose.....

Re: Light Artillery - proposal
"Light" artillery in many rule sets seems to cover all the stuff that's too small/quirky to be considered in a category of its own. As a blanket term for all the examples above, I'd say the suggested amendments have it about right.

Re: Light Artillery - proposal
Had an interesting point come up in test game, mentioned in play test thread also though ought to go here as well.
6 Commanded out shot, alongside 2 Light Artillery, alongside 6 commanded out shot. Can they march together. We felt they could as the rules specified that divisions can ignore artillery for the purposes of having to be one base width apart. This may need to be specifically mentioned in the amendments which ever way its ruled.

My assumption has been that they could march together for the reason you say - and that this is reasonable (if anyone disagrees now would be a good time to say). We will check the wording to make sure it is clear - maybe include in a "commentary" comment in the update document.
