Historical Battles: fight using actual numbers / difficulty

Post by jomni »

Hi everyone. There has been a lot of questions about the difficulty level needed to fight historical battles historically. But before we go into that, we would like to explain to you the scenario design process. Difficulty level is a reflection of the disparity between the purchase points (numbers and quality) of the player and the AI armies.

Difficulty levels. We don't want to really use Easy / Normal / Hard naming since Normal may not be normal for other people but I indicated them below for reference.
1. Samurai: Individual noble warrios (Very Easy)
2. Busho: Leader of a unit or division (Easy)
3. Taisho: Leader of an army (Normal)
4. Daimyo: Leader of a Clan (Hard)
5. Shogun: Leader of Japan instead of Emperor (Very Hard)
6. Tenryu: Celestial Dragon (Hardest / Nightmare)

We first lay out the armies in their historical numbers and adjust them accordingly to suit all levels based on the player side's perspective. Sometimes, there will be cases where we have to use non-historical numbers to satisfy the difficulty scheme of the game. We also tweak it according to the battle's unique situation. As you will see, many famous battles are pretty one-sided and it is very hard to change history (or have fun) if you play at the historical difficulty levels. So we still recommend scenarios to be played depending on the player's preference and skill.

Battles bellow will be laid out according to this scheme:
Battle Name (Side), Player Historical Numbers (Scenario Numbers if applicable), Opponent Historical Numbers (Scenario Numbers if Applicable), Difficulty Level to achieve historical numbers

Sengoku Jidai Battles
