Fleet Planner

I am now working on the Fleet Planner.
This is a big feature used to:
- set rally points and make automatic fleet assembly and delivery there
- automatically produce and deliver fighters to the required positions
- create fleet battle deployment presets
- Battle arena from the Ship Designer
The most obvious way to do this is to allow Player to select ship designs from a list and place them accordingly.
But the problem is designs tend to change quite often, so each new design could lead to the necessity of changing fleet templates, that makes the instrument less useful.
But to the date I cannot imagine any viable way of "abstracted" fleet composition to avoid this problem.
Some helpers I am thinking about:
1. Allow defining fighters distribution in percentage. Like 25% "torpedo fighters" and 75% "usual fighters", thus solving the problem of different hangar sizes and different sizes of small crafts themselves.
2. Allow to tag ship roles in the Fleet Planner and then construct the fleet basing on these "roles" instead of specific designs. Then, in the ship designer, list this roles when creating a design for the player to bind the design with the role.
Any more ideas?
