Infantry Tactics Poll Master-style

Post by gamer66 »

I think this poll is really important because even though there are cav tactic polls out there, infantry are the guys who win the battle ( cav always run like pussays!). Anyway answer poll and feel free to have long posts arguing with me.

In original LA I only require a keeper army of 12 units, which typically is:
  • Auxilia #1
  • Aux. Cav.
  • Velites *2
  • Triarii
  • Auxiliary Archers #1 & #2
  • Auxilia #2
  • Praetorians
  • Auxiliary Archers #3 & #4
The Triarii are trained as anti-cavalry specialists, and all other non-missilers are trained as anti-infantry specialists.

In THC-GBOR unit selection is very limited early on, so a bigger army with greater variety is required:
  • Scouts (starting unit)
  • Spearmen (since Auxilia not available until Battle of Adys)
  • Skirmishers * 2
  • Velites *2
  • Principes
  • Triarii
  • Legionary
  • Auxilia
  • Aux. Cav.
  • Auxiliary Archers *2
Again the Triarii are the only units trained as anti-cavalry specialists, but I amend the Spearmen training from my normal anti-infantry by:
  • Acquiring one or two levels of Armor Penetration early as a generalist skill, instead of Anti-Infantry Specialist
  • Acquiring Protection From Infantry from the gt-go, as it becomes available, in order to stiffen these guys up faster for the tough opponents to come.
