Erik,

I just saw your post in the "Announce your Custom Scenarios here" thread about 14 new scenarios for, what, a new campaign called "Blitzkrieg (1941-1942)"? I know you are adapting these from Panzer Corps, but still.

I labored for three days on just a simple test scenario for the "Suggested unit trait: Scoot and shoot (Move and fire)" thread! I don't know how you do it.

In another forum that I visit, there is an animated "smiley of salute" which I can only replicate here manually:

Thanks, man. Those icons should be included in a war-game forum like this. Cool stuff.

Researching a scenario from scratch takes a lot of time. I have 10-15 scenarios set in an area that is not covered in OOB yet. I think I spent about a month on each scenario. I waiting for more official units before I decide what to do with these scenarios.
Converting the PzC campaigns is easy and fast since most of the stuff is already in place (map, units partially victory conditions). I have an efficient working method that lets me finish a scenario in a couple of days.

This scenario will also be used as a basis for one of the Norwegian scenarios in the Blitzkrieg 1939-40 campaign.

Hi Erik,

Is there a problem with your Iwo Jima scenario that you are aware of, because after installation there is only the map, no units and no way to purchase units?

Is this caused by a recent patch?

You need to click on the land/naval/air filters on top of the formation list. Then you should be able to deploy.

Edit: Wait a minute. Looks like the patch has somehow removed the naval deployment hexes... I need some time to fix this.

Hi Erik,

When you made Norway (1940) map did you used Google map as template or you had some source from WW2 times or something else?

I like Norway setting for several reasons. It gives you combined naval, air and land aspect of warfare. Objectives and deployment are scattered which makes interesting decision making process when it comes to where to deploy what. Some battlegroups are mutually unsupportive and this makes force balance even more important. Certain front areas have pronounced presence of some military branch or its complete absence for some time like greater importance of naval combat on the north and unavailability of air support near Narvik.

Map is really big and ¾ of it are sea hexes, which is fine considering geographical layout of British Isles and Norway. This makes actual battlefield not excessively big as it may seem on the first glance. First thing that comes to my mind is ...that you have something against Sweden because you scorched it  Geographical layout of Norway is nice. Indented coastline, lot of broken surfaces with varied terrain. Number of flags on the map instantly wakes desire to capture them ALL but relatively high density of settlements actually adds feeling of added detail. Road network on the south looks overdone from gameplay perspective but also gives feeling of added detail.

Some maps (especially if they are done on battlefield map template) are including only settlements important for that battle and/or important for scenario flow. Likewise road network is builded with only gameplay on mind. This type of maps that serves its gameplay purpose but adds more detail also has more charm. I enjoyed observing it (except burned Sweden although the way it is helps focus on Norway).

There are certain places with marked names but without settlement terrain, those are:
Elvenes near Narvik. Gjovik and Brandbu near Lillehammer. Kjevik near Kristiansand. Gol near Geilo. Airfield near Kristiansand has no name.

There are also places with flags but without name or settlement terrain. Some special purpose for those?

There is a rail going through tick forest near Kristiansand and Arendal but I checked this has no negative impact on actual transport so it is fine.

There is no rail connection between Stavanger and Kristiansand (Stavanger area has its own mini rail network). I wonder is this the way it's meant to be?

Rjukan has oil facility overlay which is weird for mountain village.

There is an airstrip located on the river hex which is not bad in general just unusual choice.

Also unusual choice is to have roads and rails going through airfields but considering narrow area near those maybe it is a necessity.
