I appreciate your interest and the interest of others on my AAR.

As mentioned in the last post on the Bataan AAR, I got a little down remembering the WW2 vets from growing up and the horrors they faced in the Pacific.

The next installment will "probably" be completed within 10 days. I've already played it and have the screenshots. I've figured out the angle I'm taking in the text of the AAR setting up the battle.

Those pictures are well done with the paintshop enhancements to help us understand the action.

In Bataan, it seems you retreated while winning the fight which is unusual. You really gone & brewed those tanks like freshly ground coffee beans. I guess you were following the mission instructions to retreat.

I read the historical story of Bataan a month ago and it was similar to yours except that the Japanese kept infiltrating the American lines which forced the entire line to keep falling back. And there was an amphibious landing just like in your game behind American lines which was hit by PT boats which ravaged several boats filled with badguys, and then after landing, the Americans managed to round up the rest in the rough terrain, so only a small number of the 2000 enemy troops escaped north to their lines. But the Japanese pushed hard and keep squeezing the Americans and Filipinos down the island towards the underground bomb-proof tunnel where the brass were hiding out.

As for veterans, it seems some don't mention the war at all while others can hardly stop going on about it. I think it is due to them either hating or enjoying their wartime experience.

Thank you. This is my 6th big AAR? Most have run at www.grogheads.com It took me years of time and a lot of practice to acquire the screenshot editing skills. I've read a bunch of AARs from some true masters of the art and liberally stole their techniques. Copy from the best is my motto - just like the Ancient Romans.

I tired of losing my AARs, reviews, etc.... when websites go dark or have problems. I've written for 4 game sites: wargamer.com; armchairgeneral.com; grogheads.com; armchairdragoons.com I'm still writing feature stuff for armchairdragoons and grogheads. When I neared retirement I decided to start a blog to collect all of my game and travel writing. A lot of the travel writing is to battlefields and war museums.

Make sure you save all your work on your own computer especially as you are making it. That's my cardinal rule of posting anything online. I've done AARs too with doctored screenshots and short stories and often deleted my own stuff from online if I didn't like the websites.

I like the picture of the grenades. If I was a soldier in WW1, I would want a big bag of grenades and I'd be perfectly happy.
I noticed in the war effort posters, the ones encouraging women start out with "Joan of Arc saved France so you should buy war bonds" or something. I think they should add "....saved France from us English" would be a nice touch.

This is just a pain to illustrate. The map is huge. Your forces are split up and cannot support each other. When you spot something without a positive ID, it does not show up on the main situation map. Last, the strategy is complex due to the difficult victory conditions.

This is the hardest to illustrate Scenario for an AAR that I've ever attempted. I'm going to two conventions over the next two weeks so progress will be slow.

I took 130+ screen shots just to remind me of what happened when I had the time to write it up. This battle was so complicated I'll probably use close to 50 screenshots.

This update takes us up to turn 13. The Jap troop ships have finally been spotted and it will be hard to sink them.

This is a very long (50 turn) scenario. The first part of Guadalcanal discusses my strategy and how the different objectives are possible at different points in the 50 turn scenario. I've played this scenario at least 8 times and my strategy works well - at least at this difficulty level. If you don't have a clear strategy it is easy to make serious mistakes.

The Japs launched a massive attack. If the Marines defeat the attack, the rest of the ground combat will be mopping up.
