Entwicklung Series Specialisation Error

I got to the last mission to attack Calais 45 and all of the specializations that I have not unlocked are red, including ones that I had skipped because I didn't want them at the time but should still be able to be activated. I wanted to unlock Entwickling Series to try out the heavy tanks. No idea what is wrong as I have never had this issue in all of the previous expansions (long time player, just have never posted). I have the prereq and 38 points to spend on skills.

Is this working as intended? I saw one other post that said that Germany had to be losing to get the access to the heavy tanks. I really hope not as I wanted to try them out.

If you have the spec points but can't unlock any specs it's wrong of course. Does anybody have similar problems?

That could explain the E series issue indeed. The spec date should be changed.

I moved some posts here from Andy's Endsieg walkthrough thread. I nuked my way through the campaign until after Antwerp and found that I could not purchase any specialisation, not just Entwicklung. It could be that the error with Entwicklung shuts everything off after Antwerp's or before Calais' scenario dates.

Well just to round up the Specialisation Error: I have the same problem in Novgorod & Lazio: Enouth points but can not invest into a specialisation anymore.
Acquire button is simply red for all.

Only took advanced aeronautics and synthetic fuel, not able to take the Panzer-Lehr-Division.

It's odd how the bug shows up differently for everyone.

For example it has just hit me but before the ANZIO scenario, not the other ones listed. Cannot purchase any specializations, even ones from dates years in the past.

Just in case anyone want a temporal solution until this problem is patched for good by the Oberkommand I was able to bypass the error yesterday and my E-100 was ready to deploy in Calais for the final push. Just edit the units.csv file (probably saving an unmodified copy of the archive would be a good idea):

1. deleting the term "Entwicklung_Series" of the E-100 descriptor

and

2. editing the date the unit is available from, since the Calais scenario is dated in May'45 and the unit is only ready from July'45 (as discovered by terminator)


So, if the original descriptor of the E-100 is:

After the editing should be something like:

Please, note I am under no consideration an expert modder or I have no previous experience in this matters, but on the other side it worked for me and it should work for others. Probably it would be a good idea to revert the changes with the backup copy after you finish the campaing in order to not mess with the official content of the Aristocrats in the future.

All's good, sounds about right for a temporal fix.
The units.csv file will be updated with the next patch for sure, so it'll revert to the "official" state anyways.

Has the "fix" been applied yet? Because I just got to the Antwerp scenario, where the date is supposed to be Feb 1 1945 and (I believe) allow me to research the atom bomb but the game thinks it is Feb 1 1944 instead, which is weird since I've already researched the Vampire thing which isn't available until later. I want my atom bombs and E100!!

So far so good. I've got an atom bomb just circling around the battlefield waiting for a good target and am about to start the Calais final scenario.

One question: Should both the Maus and E-100 be purchasable in the final scenario? I'm not sure whether to make them both available in the csv or just the E-100 with the specialization.

I don't see why not. The Maus was an actual prototype in the end of the war, while the E-100 series were just a design at that point (if I am not mistaken). So if in the paralell universe that we play in Endsieg Germany could construct some E100 tanks, they also shold have some "mouses".

On the other hand, i guess maybe the rational behind the construction of E100 tanks in the game is that the resources used in the Maus were diverted to the E100.... I suppose only the Aristocrats could give you a final answer to that (anyway, the statistics of both units are not that different, so in my opinion you are not going to breake the scenario for allowing both maus and E100).

appears this is still an issue. For me everything seems to be fine up to Antwerp. At the start of the Antwerp battle, when I check the specialization tree it has the current date set to 1/2/1944 instead of 1/2/1945. Then at the start of Calais 45 the specialization tree has no date line at all which is why even older skipped specializations are not able to be acquired. As it stands now there is still no way to get the specialization for the E-series without editing(which I cant seem to find the units.csv file, im clueless when it comes to modding and doing a search and looking through every folder in the order of battle folder I dont see this file anywhere)

We are still waiting for the patch that will fix this problem, among a number of other issues. You could do what AgentTBC did, fixing the error temporarily, but it sounds like you may not have the technical skills to easily do so and it is a long and tricky process to describe and walk you through in this venue.

For one thing, you are looking in the wrong location for the file. It's not in the OOB folder in My Documents; it's in the program folders instead. On my computer, it's in C:\Program Files\Slitherine\Order of Battle - WWII\Order of Battle - WW2_64_Data\Content\Data.

Several difficulties arise from that situation. Being in a program folder, Windows is reluctant to allow you to edit the file. You need administrator privileges and, at least in my own experience, you cannot edit the file in place; you need to copy it elsewhere, edit it, and save it over the original.

Editing the file itself can be a problem. It must be saved in a certain format (semi-colon delimiters) and, if not done properly, will blow your game up. You cannot use Excel, much as some people will argue with that; I've tried without success. You need to use either a text file editor, which is tedious, or use a special program like CSVed or CSV Easy.

Of course, by giving reasons why you shouldn't try it, I've given you hints as to how you could. It's up to you, of course. Otherwise, you may prefer to wait for the patch which now looks like sometime in February. Perhaps.
